Our Church Thinks We're Dating

I really enjoyed this movie! It is very funny, keeps you engaged, and not exactly what you expect from a Rom Com. I laughed so hard and really loved the ending.

As the movie takes place at Christmas it is a fantastic holiday movie but its story line is so adaptable that it can be watched any time of year.

I love the Christian story about love and friendship presented in this movie. Mark Christopher Lawrence hits it out of the park with his serious and intimidating pastor/dad role. It also has some true rising stars, from the director Tim Nolte and the lead characters Ashley LaRae (Jess) and Burke Brown (Alex).

My wife is all about the typical Hallmark Christmas movies, which I find totally boring. You know exactly what will happen within the first 2 minutes.

This movie has the same warm and cozy Christmas movie feeling, but totally keeps you engaged and guessing the WHOLE TIME!

If you read this review and then go watch it, you will think you know how the movie turns out within the first few minutes and think, "That review was trash." Then, later you'll think NOW you have it figured out, and you still won't. Which I love.

You'll also have a whole list of characters you connect with and want the best for. The question is, what's best for them . . . ?

This movie challenges expectations for a RomCom as well as cultural/church culture expectations around dating and marriage while staying firmly in the fun and farcical realm of romcoms. I highly suggest putting this on your Christmas movie list this year.

Don't let the title fool you, this isn't another binle, church, preacher movie. This is a great family romantic comedy that just so happens to have a character base that knew each other because of a group that happened to be the church, because the father of one of the friends was the preacher. I hope to see it make its debut across multiple new platforms, and make its way into the streaming market soon. This was a great movie, that was produced well, with a great script, and it is far better than the last two seasonal RomComs I watched streaming at home. The movie takes place in Estes Park and many locations have some historic value. There isn't much, if anything in the movie that wasn't actually in Colorful Colorado. I hope to see more from these actors and actresses. Give it a watch, you will be pleasantly surprised!
