Creep Nation

This Canadian made thriller is rather a dull affair and never really seems to get going.

It tells the story of a girl who sets up a short term rental only to go missing shortly after. Her frantic brother plays detective and goes about investigating her fate, but finds considerably more than he could have ever expected.

Again this isn't quite as engaging as you'd hope, it's a slow burner which is fine for a revenge thriller like this but again it just never really builds to anything.

I found myself rather bored and the more about her disappearance that's revealed the more you'll realize that you've seen this before but better.

I don't know what it is about Canadian cinema but they seem to be on another level that I struggle to appreciate, maybe I'll "Get it" one day.

Do have to give some degree of respect to anything that deals with, or has elements of, the subject of online predators (and networks of them), the dangers and the consequences. It's not to put it lightly easy to explore, is clearly very scary from how it has been portrayed elsewhere and is relevant, one that's important to talk about and should be addressed more. So already before watching there was respect for 'Creep Nation'.

Would have had more respect for 'Creep Nation' if it was executed much better than it was. It's not particularly well made, even for something that's not low budget. Just to say too that even if a film didn't look good that is not an excuse to not put enough effort into everything else, there are plenty of films that are low in budget visually but do well in most of everything else. And it is neither creepy or illuminating enough, really admired the concept but felt that much more could have been done with it and that more could have been done showing the full horrors.

'Creep Nation' has moments of creepiness and tension later on when it briefly gains a little momentum.

The acting was not awful and wasn't exactly special either, but compared to everything else it was competent enough. Adam Seybold as the brother fares best. Did find Liv Collins didn't quite have the range or presence for the lead role though.

Visually, 'Creep Nation' has the look of the crew experimenting with techniques without thinking through or having much of a plan which ones to use and how to do them, as well as when. It all looks very unfocused. The sound also has that sense on top of being poorly recorded while the score is neither memorable or well used. Instead of adding to or enhancing the atmosphere, it distracts from it and at odds, not sounding like it belonged.

Not a particularly good job is done generating much tension from the script, which could have done with the tightening up and a read-through. The story takes far too long to find its rhythm, with in the too long first act too slow a pace and too little plotting. When it does briefly get going, 'Creep Nation' feels too much like a different film and one that has been seen many times before and with much more thrills and suspense those times. It is a frightening subject but executed too ordinarily and with not enough enthusiasm or tension.

It is not a terrible film as such but it just felt very bland and never really properly comes to life. 3/10

Decent enough. Acting not bad. Great premise. In my opinion lots of scenes could have been scratched and more suspense added would have made this movie from meh to ok!

Well this was a film that you will either switch of fast, or be lured inside by the storylinepresentation. it is a film with a lot of revenge, but also sorrow and grief.

the revenge are very sweet when it takes place, but it has a sour/bitter aftertaste for the male characterin the end.i wont tell so much about the plot and story, because it is just a story, that i guess really could happen in the real world. so now ive taped the pc camera,to avoid the dark webb sneak-peeping my privates when being private. what i can tell is that the film really takes of after about 40 minutes, so if you hang in there, it will bring you the suspense of a thriller,online so to say.

technical presentation are not too impressiv, it has some blurry choices of cam zoom and angles, and the sound effects are to weak to make me scared. the score doesnt caress my tastebuds, but for boosting up a thriller it works. the acting are dead on average,so i wont accentuate any of the actors.they are doing their job.

so the grumpy old man , that were hanging on to the end, can recommend,but just with 6 stars.

I don't know why this has such a low score on here - I thought this was an excellent movie. The cast did a fine job and the character's they were playing were believable. Cinematography was very creative some lovely compositions. The music was also great - nice synth work reminiscent of Steve Moore from Zombi in that 80s synth wave style plus a couple of cool showgazing indie tracks which fitted perfectly. All this succeeded in elevating a low budget film to an impressively high level. The plot was engaging and original and wasn't predictable. Just goes to show don't judge a movie by it's imdb rating.
