I realize this is directed at a younger crowd and it is a tv movie....but one reviewer said "it was scarier than silence of the lambs(sic)". His/her review was like a 10 year old's writings...Fine, but what the heck is a very young person doing watching Silence of The Lambs?????
This movie is garbage..bad acting, bad everything. Stay away.
Right, well given the movie's title "Zombie at 17", I must admit that I weren't having any particular grand hopes or expectations for this 2018 movie from writer Christine Conradt and director Alexandre Carrière.
But still, it is a zombie movie, and given my unhealthy interest in everything zombie, of course I had to sit down and watch the movie.
So how was it? Well, it was watchable, but it felt somewhat like writer Christine Conradt was trying to make something in the zombie genre what "Twilight" was for the vampire genre. Did it work? Well, perhaps if you are a young teen watching it, sure. But for a zombie veteran such as myself, then this movie wasn't particularly outstanding.
I managed to sit through it, and yeah it did have some interesting enough moments here and there. But ultimately it was just, for me at least, a very generic and mediocre movie. It felt like it was aimed at a younger audience, and at an audience looking for something to be the next "Twilight".
It should be said that the acting in the movie was actually quite good. But the storyline was just mediocre and the ending was just a slap to the face.
I am rating "Zombie at 17" a very mediocre five out of ten stars.

If you want to see a MUCH better film on this same material watch 'Contracted' instead, this film was a terrible waste of time.
This feels like a TV movie crossed with iZombie without the comedy and nowhere near as good...however the script is a joke.
Basically a girl has been infected and is slowly turning into a zombie, the hit-and-run part of the story mentioned in the summary is a very small part of it.
This girl is at school with what looks like bruised eyes and no one notices or mentions it including her Mum.
Also, there is a murder, the alibis given are so lame and the evidence given to the Detective clearly gives them an obvious number 1 suspect but the Detective is so dumb she just can't see it. The mention of zombies doesn't seem to surprise anyone like its something common but at the same time they don't seem to know anything about zombies even though someone is seen watching Night of the Living Dead on TV.
The script is immature, the characters are dumb and their reactions to what is happening is a joke. I'm not sure if the actors just could not bring the script to life, the script was just unworkable (even if that's not even a work you know what I mean lol) or the director screwed up.
However, after watching over a 1000 zombie movies this was a little different, the overall idea was quite good but was poorly executed and it could have been so much better.
It's watchable if you ignore the plot holes but you would be better off watching Warm Bodies (2013) or Contracted (2013)

Sometimes you're fed up with complicated productions and looking for simple things not sucking your attention. I'm fed up with expensive productions. I love this movie's simplicity. I seems childish. Obviously for teen-age viewer category. When you think a movie is bad, you should be sure everything about it is just had. But this movie isn't bad. It's just designed for a specific TV hour.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesMekdes Teshome's debut.
- PifiasThe movie is called Zombie at 17, but in her opening voice over the main character reveals she is 19. Her sister was killed when she was 10, and this takes place 9 years later. That would make her 19 years old.
