Documentary

Film explores the history of Theatre Workshop and Joan Littlewood . Speaking to actors and stage managers who help set up the company both touring and at it's base in Stratford's Theatre Royal East London . A brilliant idea and of interest to anyone associated with theatre now and in the past . Joan was breaking rules , using working class people , encouraging a working class audience and even local kids to attend .

In the Company of Joan contains interviews with one or two people often hidden from the history of Theatre Workshop. Including Maggie Bury Walker (who spent fourteen years in Joan's company prior to setting up East 15 Acting School) & Christine Jackson (one of Gerry Raffles 'Activists' who went on to assist Joan with some of her 1960s community inclusion projects)
