Inspired by real events, Villa Hollywood follows a washed-up teen TV star stuck managing a Hollywood apartment building teeming with hustlers, has-beens, and ex-cons. Exclusive: Ernie Hudson has been tapped as a series regular opposite Donnie Wahlberg and Sonequa Martin-Green in CBS’ upcoming Blue Bloods universe series Boston Blue which will debut this fall, airing in Blue Bloods’ Friday 10 Pm time slot.

In Boston Blue, Wahlberg will reprise his Blue Bloods role as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston Pd. Once in Boston, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.

Hudson will play the Silver family patriarch, Reverend Peters, a renowned pastor of an historic Baptist church in Boston. An open-minded, welcoming man that is comfortable in all traditions, he is happy to preside at his church’s traditional Sunday Baptist service. Reverend Peters is the father of Mae Silver, Boston’s District Attorney, and grandfather of Det. Lena Silver (Martin-Green), Superintendent Ashley Silver, and rookie patrol cop, Isaac Silver.

The fifth installment of the beloved Toy Storyfranchise has not given up on the character of Combat Carl. The G.I. Joe-inspired action figure in the Toy Story franchise was played by the late Carl Weathers, who died in February 2024 at 76. With his catchphrase of “Combat Carl never gives up! Combat Carl finds a way!” he quickly became a fan favorite.

Weathers’ Combat Carl is still set to be featured in the upcoming Toy Story 5, but instead of being voiced by the Rocky actor, the character will be voiced by a Ghostbusters star. Per TMZ, production sources state that Ernie Hudson will take over the role of Combat Carl in Toy Story 5.

Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise, recently starred in the reboot of Quantum Leap as well as the BET+ series The Family Business. Hudson reprised his Ghostbusters role in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

CBS has added 10 new cast members for upcoming daytime soap opera “Beyond the Gates.”

Joining the show are: Brandon Claybon, Timon Durrett, Sean Freeman, Marquita Goings, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, RhonniRose Mantilla (Broadway’s “Harmony the Musical”), Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad (Broadway’s “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding”), and Arielle Prepetit.

The new additions join previously announced cast members Tamara Tunie, Daphnee Duplaix, and Karla Mosley. “Beyond the Gates” was originally picked up to series at CBS back in April. As previously reported, the show was developed under CBS Studios’ content partnership with the NAACP. The show will begin production in November and will premiere in early 2025.

The official logline for the series states:

“‘Beyond the Gates’ is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., and in one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States.

Young and the Restless comings and goings reveal Valarie Pettiford joins the cast as recast Amy Lewis. This is a real blast from the past. The character’s been gone since 1988. And now she’s back with a new face and an incredible actress in the role.

If you don’t remember, Amy Lewis was the daughter of Frank Lewis, Genoa City’s police commissioner in the mid-80s. She also worked as Paul Williams’ secretary at his detective agency and even dated Nate Hastings’ father, Nathan Hastings Sr.
