Green Jello Suxx Live

Rob and his team have created a film that showcases the genius and history behind Green Jello. The film is narrated by founding Green Jello member Bill Manspeaker and goes through the history of the band to how things currently are with the franchise band in each state. The film also includes segments from Bill's family including what finishing school was like for Damien. If you have ever dreamed if creating your own punk rock puppet then this film will teach you how to make your own via a tutorial from Jonathan Pelcher. Toss in live footage from Green Jello's career and facts from Troma's Lloyd Kauffman and you have one of the best documentaries in a long time.

Simply amazing work. I was expecting a concert DVD with some extra interviews and silly backstage footage. Instead I was treated to 2 hours of music, facts, tutorials, animations, and timely placed archived footage scattered throughout a story told through the band's new touring members.

If you ever wanted to know what it's like to be in Green Jello, this is the story to watch. The story of Bill Manspeaker is an incredibly interesting and sweet story that we get introduced to from as young as 5 years old when Bill's mom built him his first puppet head. A decade and a ton of green leafy influence later and he's inventing the world's worst band. Now in 2016 it's the idea of a fan becoming a member and going on a quick tour to be a weekend rock-star, the return to the daily grind of the 9-5 workload come Monday morning. That's Green Jello for all 800 members except for #1.

At odd times I felt uneasy during the live songs. Clearly being in a band isn't always fun and there's a lot of pressure involved. You feel that during this film when you begin to earn what it's like to play in a band that is mostly improvisational performances. What's gonna happen next? You can hear them make mistakes. It's as real as it gets, like a circus on stage, people slamming into gear and pedals and drums and everything, guitars being tossed out of tune, drummer struggling to hear the vocals, etc, etc, etc

I missed a lot because I was laughing so hard at some parts. It's hilarious! I really have no idea how they were able to make this for only $5000 considering the quality of the sound and overall production!

For that I rate this film a perfect 10/10. I can't wait to get my DVD in the mail so I can see it again.

This documentary is a must for metal music lovers and anybody who has an appreciation of what loyalty and consistency is all about. Filmmaker Rob Gabriele bring us the tale of the one and only Bill Manspeaker, founder and front man for the band like none other -- Green Jello. Green Jello can boast having literally hundreds of band members, a record as a matter of fact, and has been with us since the 1980's. Those of us who remember "Three Little Pigs" and the epic MTV video that came with it can attest to the fact that this band has withstood the test of time. Did I also mention a Grammy? Loyal fans, both new and old, come out faithfully to see Bill and Green Jello perform at local venues -- up close and personal.

This documentary takes us into the tedious and grueling journey of touring in Canada. While we join Bill and his crew on the trip we learn of his upbringing, complete with video and photos, and how he came about making his very first "puppethead" with the help of his Mom. Prepare yourself to laugh because Bill's infectious personality is amusing, to say the least.

The film also features interviews with Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment and Toxic Avenger fame. And of course, there is that time when Maynard James Keenan hung around for a bit...

One thing you will definitely take away from this film is this... the spirit and loyalty of the fans. Green Jello brings a sense of family and belonging to the fans who religiously come out to participate in the shows. These shows are audience interactive and encourage a free-spirited sense of humor not found readily in a music venue. Don't take everything so seriously -- here is Green Jello, and please put on this giant puppethead.
