The budget of the film was just 700 euros, which surprised the audience and the critics, as it gives the illusion of a fairly large production.
It was the first silent Greek film after 83 years. The last Greek silent film until then had been shot in 1933.
Nikos Kourou worked for over 3 years to complete the film.
Some media critics in Greece tried to discredit the film, ironically calling it "the monster of no budget". After two years, Nikos Kourou shot the film "A Night in Hell" about the monster of fascism, answering "Dedicated to you".
For his leading role in ''Utopia'', Nikos Kourou won the Best Actor Award at the 11th Cyprus International Film Festival in 2016. Giannis Papadimitriou also won the Best Music Award at the same festival.
