Must Date the Playboy

This was yet another Filipino movie I just watched with Mom on YouTube. Judging by the title, I thought some kind of comic revenge was going to take place and it seemed to go in that direction but then real love takes over...So, yeah, there was some overdramatic sequences initially that one could laugh at but then it gets more seriously dramatic as the narrative goes on. And so, one cares enough for the characters to be entirely touched by what happens to them when certain events come. So on that note, Mom and me highly recommend Must Date the Playboy.

The plot is so cliche. The idea of dating the Playboy has been done a lot of times and the execution here is no different than the others. Nothing refreshing, nothing original. First the movie didn't even emphasize on the relationship between Zach and Victoria (aka the worse "friend" ever) to even make the viewer believe they CAN'T get over each other, the only scene that features them indicates that they're just messing around, not deeply, i-can't-get-over-him/her kinda love. That's why the idea that Tori must date Zach so as to protect Victoria from him is downright stupid and laughable. The characters are quite annoying, I don't find any of them likable; Zach is the typical playboy, jerk that has the looks and the riches. The character of Tori herself, is quite typical, the good girl; the nerdy, brilliant, cute and the I'm-waiting-for-my-prince-charming attitude is very annoying, as it makes her lacks any kind of personality. Ohh and the Empoy thing is extremely tedious, you could guess who it is right from the opening scene, and just 'cause the connection is down that means they can't speak to each other again? Why can't she reconnect it back? After Tori and Zach start 'dating' the whole film becomes predicable as it's just a matter of time before they 'fall in love' then the 'misunderstanding' and then 'patch up' and from there the 'happy ending' of course.
