Can across this by accident and loved it. Only thing is that you can't walk away from the screen unless you understand Turkish. You have to stay and read, lol. Someone mentioned a season 2. Hope so ~ great acting.
I'm new to Turkish TV/movies but have some knowledge of Turkey, and I have a soft spot for the culture and language. I'm so glad I'm able to see some of these things via Netflix. Hatirla Gonul (sorry, no Umlaut on my keyboard) is the second show I've watched pretty much from beginning to end. At first, I thought it might be a bit too melodramatic for me - Turks are very romantic and seem to love their melodrama. As an American, I'm used to a slightly different point of view, but as a woman I'm always up for some romance lol! Ultimately I was won over by this show. The plot was crazy complex with multiple turns. Improbable for the most part but this just added to the suspense for me. The acting is really quite good, even excellent in some cases. Not to mention that it's so refreshing to see some new faces. The main characters were good (Tekhin was an amazing villain who reminded me a bit of Charles Boyer in Gaslight) but there were standouts among the supporting characters also. I particularly enjoyed the character of Figen, Tekhin's prostitute girlfriend. A raw and often funny character. I'd recommend this show to women who are looking for some chick-flick viewing. I'm looking forward to season 2.
I can not believe how good this series was. The actors were excellent. Very talented! I am still watching Gonul and I don't want it to end. The passion between Gonul and Yusuf is amazing.
I am hooked on this show even though it was made in 2015. I just discovered it on Netflix. It is GREAT!!!
I loved this series and appreciated the fact that it wasn't as long as some of the other Turkish series I've seen recently on Netflix.
The story line did seem rather improbable but I guess that a truly abusive husband with a psychopathic personality could be capable of the insane acts he committed in his determination to keep Gonul for himself. But wouldn't it be scary to get involved with such a man?
Anyway there are other important reasons to watch this series and one of them is to ogle the fabulous good looks of a couple of the lead males. Yusuf is a dish but even more dishy I think is the lawyer, Hilmi.
Furthermore it's always amusing to see the lifestyles of the ultra rich and this series gives a good insight into the lives of 'richer and richer'.
Well worth seeing.
