Sasha came to visit his grandfather - a forester. He thought that in the reserved wilderness, near the Sovetskaya River, an unbreakable silence had settled and that he was able to calmly rest. But there is a complicated life going on here. It turned out that the grandfather is waging a real war with poachers who are jamming the sturgeon going to spawn. At first, Sasha is just an outside observer. But after the unexpected death of his grandfather, he begins to understand that his grandfather, in addition to a double-barreled shotgun and simple belongings, bequeathed to him his unfinished struggle. Nothing keeps him here. Nothing but conscience. No one entrusted him with anything, no one promised either a salary or gratitude for the protection of natural resources, no one will ask for the ruined fish. He decided to fight. Perhaps his decision to stay was initially influenced by Irina (Tatiana Konyukhova), a young ichthyologist. She is beautiful, hardworking, intelligent. And it seemed to Sasha that he fell in love with her. But it seems strange to Irina that a person interferes in his own business when no one entrusted him with anything. Closer to Sasha was another girl. And, oddly enough, - Lidka, the daughter and bride of two malicious poachers. So far, she has not yet completely taken Sasha's side, but she is already making attempts to fight her father and groom. The screenwriter and director did not want to end the story with a denouement that puts an end to the "and". They leave the viewer the opportunity to think out the further development of events.
