The wig that is worn by Olivia in some scenes is the actual wig that Olivia Rusk wore briefly when she was 8 years old.

Wig'd Out was inspired by the life of teen Olivia Rusk, who has total hair loss due to the medical condition alopecia.

10 year old Kate Kelly (who also has hair loss due to alopecia) was cast in a flashback scene as a young Olivia. She traveled from her home in Atlanta to Indiana for her cameo role in Wig'd Out.

In the scenes that show the Olivia character in her bedroom, all items that you see belong to Olivia Rusk from her own bedroom. That includes Olivia's little dog, Annabelle.

The 1985 Jaguar named Baby Blue belongs to Sandy and Olivia Rusk. The car's nickname is actually Pablo. The car scene with Olivia and Antonio was filmed at the end of a long filming day in mid July. The temperature was over 90 degrees and it was a very difficult scene. In addition, the car was not drivable. The scene had to be reworked with new dialogue and with movie magic, it was able to "drive" past the camera.
