Daddy's Boy

We have a set of very goodlooking lads, all of whom are players in the sex industry in some way. Their purported aspirations and travails are the preoccupations of 0.0001% of the general gay population. In fact, some of them claim to be straight, an aspect of their lives and actions that would have been far more fruitful and interesting to explore. This film therefore, is of interest and relevance to a tiny minority of people, gay or straight.

For those hoping to see some man on man action, there is plenty of rear end nudity, but these guys (or the director) show a marked measure of priggish prudishness when it comes to revealing their front tackle.

Just a word about the film's tagline, which is a nonsense - "Whatever the father does, the son also does". We know that one father had one single gay relationship and that's it. Is the film trying to say that the other fathers were hunky rent boys? Or that the father who admitted his proclivities was lying and was a rent boy too?

"Leaving boyhood behind"? These aren't boys. They are young men.

I watched till the end but felt cheated. There could have been so much more. I just got a feeling of emptiness from the film, that nothing of importance had happened and that it had all been a slightly arty waste.

This is not a regular movie. It's almost like a series of photographs of a moment in some men's lives that give you a view into who they are, what they long for and their fears.

Beautifully shot in black and white with New York as one more character. The music is unique and takes you through this soothing beautiful journey through moments of these men and their beauty.

Definitely a great experience. I absolutely loved it and wanted more. Pity for the low ratings. It deserves much more.

A very dull movie. POINTLESS. It's really quite hard to understand what the writer & Director we're trying to achieve. Very arty yes. Beautiful in places but really lacking in any substance.

I love this film. Its thrilling to see a filmmaker like this. It feels more like early Fellini or even the French New Wave. Performances are all wonderful and vulnerability is the key, there are actual moments I was squirming.

This little movie is a piece of art. Truly the antidote to bland, unchallenging "gay" films this is another winner from Armando.
