Considering that the original movie was a huge commercial success and made back 65 times it's budget I wasn't shocked to hear a sequel was being made, I didn't expect it to be so much better though.
Don't get me wrong I think the first film had some great ideas and I like the cpu screen method of filming but it was lacking in a lot of areas and my final score for it was a very disappointing 4/10.
This sequel goes in a new direction altogether. It maintains the same appearance but the supernatural element is out the window for a more modern stylish smart approach and it works wonders.
Yet another group of 20 somethings are sat in front of their cpu's skyping away not realising their night is about to take a very dark turn.
A sleek clever little film I walked away from this considerably happier than I expected to. It's unpredictible, looks great and the cast do a solid job at stressing just how much the situation is spiralling out of their control.
Absolutely well worth a watch even if you didn't like the first movie, this is a very different creature and makes me now want this franchise to really blossom.
The Good:
Looks great
Really quite clever
The Bad:
All the video and audio distortions get annoying
I think it could have used a bit of additional time
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Han shot first!
Someone shrunk Gal Gadot

I've seen the original so I had an idea what the plot would be like, the maybe first half hour of the movie was a bit boring because the guy was just logging into his accounts, and sending messages but eventually once he opens his group chat of friends it get much entertaining and intense very fast, and there was some jump scares I wasn't expecting. I also watched this movie at 1AM which was a good idea of me, I would say to just watch this movie yourself because nobody's opinion is gonna be the same.
The movie not only outshines the first, but brings the story from supernatural to the real world. Dark Web is completely dark and twisted and it's something I, as a horror fan, loved. I think the highly negative impact of the first will lead to people not even giving this one a chance. I will say however if you don't like the computer screen storytelling format then you will not like the movie. Dark Web has many clever technology-based moments and has well thought out deaths. I wouldn't consider this a horror, but more of a thriller. Judging the movie based on the first without even seeing it is completed biased and should be given a chance.
This is one of those movies where I decided not to read the reviews before watching, and boy, I'm so glad I did. I thought it was creative, relevant, and well done. I was surprised to see all the negative reviews and they would have probably dissuaded me from watching it. So I urge you to stop reading here, go watch it and judge for yourself.
To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know it existed until I was surfing through movies trying to find something to watch. Pretty interesting storyline, creepy because.... its the dark web. I cant say anything more without spoiling it. Give it a try. I liked it better than part 1

- CuriosidadesStephanie Nogueras, in real life like her character Amaya DeSoto is in fact deaf. Her sign language communication throughout the film is genuine signing utilized by the actress in interaction.
- Pifias(at around 33 mins) Damon (who is supposedly living in England) holds his phone up to the camera, and "T-Mobile" is clearly visible on the top left as the active provider. The T-Mobile brand was discontinued in the UK several years ago after merging with Orange UK.

- Versiones alternativasThere are 3 alternate endings. One of the endings is used in theaters, and the other 2 are on the DVD. [SPOILERS FOR ENDINGS BELOW] Alternate theater ending (Buried Alive): Rather than spectating Amaya getting misdirected by a Charon, Matias arrives at the site where they first kissed, only to get knocked out by a Charon before getting buried in a casket under the ground. Amaya arrives sooner, and the Charons change his messages by changing his texts to "I NEED TO SIGN BETTER" and pixelating his mouth in video calls, thus Amaya doesn't know where he is and his situation. DVD ending 1 (They_Earned_It.m4v): Matias and Amaya both meet at the site where they first kissed, but Charons come and pull them away from each other. A poll about their fate is held, but after a video of Matias and his bargain for Amaya's life with money is posted, a majority of the Charons approves of it and votes for them to live, thus they are freed. The movie ends with Erica Dunne's begging from the original ending: she crawls out of the closet, begs for help on the laptop, notices the hole in her head, and screams just as the video is cut off. DVD ending 2 (Suicide): After Amaya is subdued, Matias arrives at the now empty warehouse and finds a gun on the ground. With his friends and girlfriend gone, he starts to contemplate suicide as Charons start voting on whether he should shoot himself.
