I am through season 3. The Yellowstone series is really enjoyable. However, I think that it has too many common points with the 60's Bonanza series:
1. A huge ranch that a family has to defend against many invaders,
2. The mother that died long ago, and is dearly missed by all,
3. The cowboy values that make everything hold.
I had enjoyed Bonanza, and I enjoyed Yellowstone, even if sometimes it looks and sounds like well-done soap opera.
I do miss the psychological drama dimension there was in Bonanza. But it would not be fair to compare 2 series that are 60 years apart.
In yellowstone acting is really good, and I agree, Kelly Reilly stole the show. Dialogs are great, Kelly Reilly's lines are stunning.
I am not an english language native person, but I could swear I hear her speaking with a british accent sometimes. Well, nothing's perfect.
