Superman is the first big screen entry into the Dcu. It releases this summer, July 11, and features tons of characters. Superman and Clark, obviously, Ma and Pa Kent, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Mister Terrific, Krypto, The Engineer, possibly Supergirl, and some other unidentified villain that many people believe is Ultraman. I believe it would be a monumental mistake and a waste of a great character to introduce Ultraman this early in the Dcu and simply as a minor villain when his threat is so much greater.

We’ve seen brief shots of the possible Ultraman in the trailer, but set photos give us a much better look at the character.

For those that don’t know, Ultraman is Earth-3’s version of Kal-El, but his name is Ka-Il. His backstory is similar to Earth-Prime’s, but there are some distinctions that turn him into a villain.

Superman & Lois has already become one of the most beloved iterations of the Man of Steel that the DC Universe has ever seen, despite the fact that it often tended to deviate from its source material. The series, with its incredible action and enormous heart, overcame some of the laziest superhero tv criticisms about the CW and told some genuinely emotional stories. With a definitive end for the Man of Steel, the series ended on a high note, even if Superman & Lois spinoff and sequel pitches continue to be shared.

The very first, just as the network was born from the ashes of Upn and the WB, was "Smallville," which set a standard for telling superhero origin stories on TV without big budgets or blockbuster-level visual effects, and went on to become a Guinness World Record holder.

23 years later, The CW said goodbye to what will likely be the network's very last superhero TV show in "Superman & Lois." Rather than being another origin story, however, this series was a bold and exciting new take that began 20 years after Clark Kent had first suited up as the Man of Steel, battled foes like Lex Luthor, married Lois Lane, and become a father to twin boys. Rather than examining the start of Superman's career, the show explored Clark Kent's life as a middle-aged superhero all the way through to his final years.

There is no shortage of reasons why Smallville endures over two decades removed from its television debut. The casting was pitch perfect; Tom Welling's Clark and Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor are still ranked as fan favorites in their roles. Its snug fit in the larger television landscape at the time couldn't be replicated. Season 3 of Superman & Lois was definitely one of the show's best. It dissected Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel on a human level, pushing the Kents to the limit on their Smallville farm. They had to contend with Bruno Mannheim, plus the fallout of the Parasite war from the previous season.

As expected, the show did take quite a few creative liberties. Many superhero movies and comic book TV series do this to properly adapt the narrative for the medium in question. That said, Superman & Lois featured a few notable arcs that were still loyal to the source material.

While Superman has one of the most amazing arrays of powers in the DC Universe, he’s not the only Kryptonian running around. There are plenty of other people who share the same powers as the ‘Last Son of Krypton’. In fact, some of them even possess abilities that the premier DC hero doesn’t have.
