Superman is the first big screen entry into the Dcu. It releases this summer, July 11, and features tons of characters. Superman and Clark, obviously, Ma and Pa Kent, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Mister Terrific, Krypto, The Engineer, possibly Supergirl, and some other unidentified villain that many people believe is Ultraman. I believe it would be a monumental mistake and a waste of a great character to introduce Ultraman this early in the Dcu and simply as a minor villain when his threat is so much greater.
We’ve seen brief shots of the possible Ultraman in the trailer, but set photos give us a much better look at the character.
For those that don’t know, Ultraman is Earth-3’s version of Kal-El, but his name is Ka-Il. His backstory is similar to Earth-Prime’s, but there are some distinctions that turn him into a villain.

Superman & Lois has already become one of the most beloved iterations of the Man of Steel that the DC Universe has ever seen, despite the fact that it often tended to deviate from its source material. The series, with its incredible action and enormous heart, overcame some of the laziest superhero tv criticisms about the CW and told some genuinely emotional stories. With a definitive end for the Man of Steel, the series ended on a high note, even if Superman & Lois spinoff and sequel pitches continue to be shared.
As evidenced by some of the most iconic Superman & Lois quotes, the writing for the show was a strong point. However, this only worked because the showrunners were willing to take chances, and to tell stories that genuinely deviated from their comic book origins. While this is not always a good idea, it worked extremely well in this case. With that said,...

Though Henry Cavill's run as Superman may have ended a lot sooner than some fans would have hoped, it can't be denied that he had some great moments during his tenure donning the iconic red cape. Zack Snyder's output regarding DC films has been divisive, to say the least, but Cavill was a perfect casting choice for the Last Son of Krypton. The popular British actor nailed the look and demeanor to pull off the legendary character, leaving many movie-goers feeling like he was as perfect a casting choice as one could make.
That theory was never really allowed to be tested -- with Man of Steel featuring a rookie Superman. Then Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League immediately tossed him into darker scenarios that he shared with other DC icons. Still, there are plenty of instances where Cavill's Superman offered evidence to back up the vehement fan support.

The history of superhero TV shows on The CW started and ended with Superman. The very first, just as the network was born from the ashes of Upn and the WB, was "Smallville," which set a standard for telling superhero origin stories on TV without big budgets or blockbuster-level visual effects, and went on to become a Guinness World Record holder.
23 years later, The CW said goodbye to what will likely be the network's very last superhero TV show in "Superman & Lois." Rather than being another origin story, however, this series was a bold and exciting new take that began 20 years after Clark Kent had first suited up as the Man of Steel, battled foes like Lex Luthor, married Lois Lane, and become a father to twin boys. Rather than examining the start of Superman's career, the show explored Clark Kent's life as a middle-aged superhero all the way through to his final years.

There is no shortage of reasons why Smallville endures over two decades removed from its television debut. The casting was pitch perfect; Tom Welling's Clark and Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor are still ranked as fan favorites in their roles. Its snug fit in the larger television landscape at the time couldn't be replicated. It rubbed shoulders with melodramatic peers like One Tree Hill and The Oc, but still packed a superhero punch well ahead of its time. But perhaps most impressively, Smallville, even today, stands out for its action-packed scenes showcasing the soon-to-be Superman.
There’s no question that Smallville could have faltered under the weight of its soap operatic, weeknight teen drama roots. A revolving door of love triangles, family drama, and ever-shifting allegiances could derail other shows. But the creative team embraced these melodramatic elements, using them to inject stakes into every clash. Emotional undercurrents ran rampant throughout Smallville,...

James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, set to be released in July 2025, has ignited passionate fan discussions, as we edge closer to the introduction of the new Dcu under James Gunn. Fans have been, as one would expect, excited, considering everything at stake, with the teaser trailer having only recently been released.
While the trailer proved to be an entertaining watch, some fans have already started thinking about the direction of the overall movie. A Reddit debate recently concluded that the movie might as well revolve around a ‘loss of individuality’ among superheroes.
A range of fans agreed, with people speculating that the movie will deal with a corporate homogenization of superheroes, something David Corenswet’s Superman will fight against.

From 1973-1985, two generations of Saturday morning television were raised on the exploits of DC Comics’ stellar array of heroes on ABC’s Super Friends. While the exact title changed through the years, the Hanna-Barbera series continued to display heroes and heroines as models of truth, justice, and the American Way. There are many who, having grown up on the show, revere it. Others, those of us outgrowing that weekend ritual, found it a pale comparison to the four0-cloro source material.
I admit, I had a disdain for the series, what with its limited animation and prohibition against the good guys subduing the bad guys with their fists. As a result, you must be a fan of a certain age to find the arrival of the Super Friends complete series DVD box set a welcome treat.

Superman & Lois went big for its Season 3 finale, leaving viewers with a massive cliffhanger. Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) enacted his revenge on Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) by turning the reanimated corpse of his doppelgnger, Bizarro, into a savage monster, a version of the super-villain Doomsday from the DC Comics source material. Lex unleashed Doomsday at the Kent farm, but his battle with Superman eventually took the pair to the moon, where they charged at one another one final time before the credits rolled. In addition to leaving viewers desperate for the series shortened fourth season to see what happens next, this development reverses one of the series biggest plot twists from a prior season, delivering a payoff two years in the making.

Season 3 of Superman & Lois was definitely one of the show's best. It dissected Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel on a human level, pushing the Kents to the limit on their Smallville farm. They had to contend with Bruno Mannheim, plus the fallout of the Parasite war from the previous season.
As expected, the show did take quite a few creative liberties. Many superhero movies and comic book TV series do this to properly adapt the narrative for the medium in question. That said, Superman & Lois featured a few notable arcs that were still loyal to the source material.

Recent adaptations of Superman repeatedly retcon Doomsday as a reanimated Kryptonian, linking the villain more closely to Clark Kent's story. This change in Doomsday's backstory is necessary for live-action adaptations as his complex origin in the comics would be convoluted and less exciting narratively. By tying Doomsday to Kryptonians in the DC adaptations, it strengthens the emotional weight of their conflicts and explains the character's already-strong powers.
In recent years, multiple adaptations of Superman stories have repeated one specific retcon for one of DC's most iconic villains. Since 2013's Man of Steel, Superman adaptations have become somewhat more common. DC TV shows excel in introducing compelling villains, such as Lex Luthor in Superman & Lois and Two-Face in Gotham Knights, adding new layers to their characters while staying true to their essence. In contrast, DC movies have struggled to present memorable villains, with characters like Sabbac in Black Adam and Kalypso in Shazam! Fury of the Gods lacking distinct qualities. DC's upcoming projects could learn from the TV shows' approach of gradually building up to villain introductions and establishing personal connections between the villains and heroes for more engaging storylines.
TV shows set in the DC Universe are far ahead of the movies in one crucial area. Naturally, film is considered to be the most important medium for DC. However, that’s not to say that DC’s movies are superior to its shows in every way.

Superman & Lois season 4 may repeat the Dceu's mistake of rushing through the Death of Superman storyline, risking a lack of meaningful storytelling and impact. The presence of Doomsday in the show creates concerns that Superman may meet his end, potentially resulting in the need for other superheroes to step up in his absence. Keeping Superman alive may be the better option for the show, allowing for continued exploration of his character and potential storylines with other main characters.
Based on season 3’s setup, Superman & Lois season 4 is at risk of repeating a huge mistake from the Dceu. For now, there’s no official word on the problems the Kent family will be facing when Superman & Lois returns for its fourth season. However, the cliffhanger ending of the season 3 finale does provide some hints in terms of what’s around the corner.

While Superman has one of the most amazing arrays of powers in the DC Universe, he’s not the only Kryptonian running around. There are plenty of other people who share the same powers as the ‘Last Son of Krypton’. In fact, some of them even possess abilities that the premier DC hero doesn’t have.
Some of these powers come about as a result of scientific experimentation or are simply a gift from the gods. Regardless, despite the immense strength that he has, Clark Kent doesn’t have the special powers that the following 11 heroes and villains do.
Preus' Black Light Manipulation
Preus was one of Superman’s most despicable villains. Not only did he harbor an immense hatred of non-Kryptonians, but he also had the ability to emit a powerful black light energy from his hands. His heat vision was also black and burnt with much more intense heat.

After an emotionally taxing episode that saw Lois come to terms with the bodily changes a terminal illness like cancer might bring, the narrative shifts back to Clark and Lois’ efforts to expose Bruno Mannheim and Peia for their crimes. Previously in Superman & Lois, in a flashback sequence that shed light on Peia and Bruno’s past, it was shown that Peia had murdered their gang leader, Boss Moxie, usurped his position, and the duo framed Lex Luthor for their crimes. Lois was involved in the case, and it was her investigation that led to Luthor’s incarceration. Now that she has access to the confidential files of the Dod and is observing the Mannheims closely, she knows that Peia is a murderer. Jordan’s reckless usage of superpowers attracts Kyle’s attention, as he speculates that there is a metahuman presence in Smallville. On the other hand, afflicted with cancer,...
