Saiju Sreedharan is an Indian Film Director and Editor predominantly working in Malayalam Films. Over the course of 10 years of film making, Saiju has also supported some of the best Directors of the industry in crucial creative decision making, on just not only the Editing of a certain Film, but also on the Sound Design, Mix and the DI of many blockbuster Hits of Malayalam Films in the recent times.
Best known for his cerebral, often nonlinear, storytelling, this Editor-Producer and to be a Director was born on Feb 17, 1981, in Kochi, Kerala, India. The Birth of film making thoughts would have started while he was around 14 or 15, when India was introduced to cable TV and channels like star movies. Films like Predator, Terminator, Home Alone was his first inspiration which attracted him to the world of movies. His first introduction to a camera was around this same age. During his vacations, along with his childhood friends, he remembers finding a picture clicking Film camera at his friend Deepak's house which he took out to the fields outside and was mesmerized clicking pictures, and later washed it, printed it, and found it's results amazing. Few years later, Gilly, a friend since Saiju's childhood, helped Saiju get a camera which used to record videos with the help of a VHS tape with which Saiju used to record footage of his music band which he owned during his college days. And when the recorded footage were too many, his next step was to find a way to choose the best shots and make a music story with the footage of his band. And this is when he researched and learned about editing software and during those times he learned to edit footage on an application Called "Pinnacle". And from there on, his journey had begin!
In his experience of filmmaking, Saiju has gone from low-budget independent films to working on some of the biggest blockbusters ever made in the Malayalam Film Industry. Saiju Sreedharan, a friend of Aashiq Abu started editing Films directed by Aashiq Abu and also went on to co-produce a hit film titled 'Halal Love story'.
Gangster was his big debut as an Editor and few films later, in a career that began in 2014, Saiju won accolades for his work in high grosser films such as National award winner Maheshinte Prathikaram, Mayaanadhi, Kumblangi Nights, Virus - a medical thriller, Android Kunjappan version 5.25, Anjaam Paathira and Naaradhan among his other films. Saiju's simple objective is to give the best version of himself on every film he works with a thought flow as to the entertainment and brilliant experience one should have viewing the final out of that film on the big screen. After establishing himself as an accomplished and successful editor, Saiju Sreedharan will now be known as a Director with his debut, a complete technically driven film that will be introduced as a new genre to the Malayalam Film Industry. The much awaited film is yet to be titled and will be on production this year.
