Piret Kuub is Estonian actress and writer. Piret started acting in high school in the theater class, where her teachers were well-known Estonian actors. At the same time, she participated in the work of the VAT Theater Forum group, with which she performed, for example, in the youth TV-show "Rusikas".
Piret went to study theater studies at the University of Tartu, where she obtained a master's degree in 2011. At the university, Piret participated in such courses as, for example, Theoretical Fundamentals of Acting, Basics of Stage Movement and Speech, etc. In both her bachelor's and master's thesis, Piret studied acting based on her own experience.
During university, Piret attended for three years in the studio of the Tartu University Theater, where she studied stage movement, speech and improvisation. In the same period, she played in many performances in various projects, both main and supporting roles, which she continued even after her studies.
In 2018, Piret went to study film art at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School, which she graduated in 2022. She specialized in screenwriting, but she also learned the skills necessary for acting. Courses such as Speech and the Basics of Acting, Script Analysis as a Working Method or Film Theater were very helpful.
Piret has also directed in theater. In 2024, she started participating in the work of the improvisational theater.
Piret's great passion is also singing. She has studied pop/jazz singing for 2.5 years, and sang in various choirs too.
Piret has had about ten film roles, seven roles in TV series and few roles in TV commercials. In addition, she has acted in TV shows, videos and more. The gallery of characters is quite varied. She has played for example a mother, daughter, doctor, nurse, pharmacist, scientist, policewoman, teacher, model, prostitute, etc.
However, Piret has played mainly in theater, where she has performed a total of 30 roles. For one lead, she received two awards: Best Actress Award at the national festival in Estonia and Best Actress Gold Medal at the prestigious international festival in St. Petersburg, the jury of which was only Russian folk artists such as Georgi Taratorkin and others.
What fascinates Piret about acting... entering someone else's world... doing things which she cannot do as herself... It is a pleasure and liberating feeling.
