Exclusive: The 29th LA Shorts International Film Festival is about to get underway in downtown Los Angeles, an Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying event that will showcase 470 films between July 16-28.

The festival opens at Regal LA Live with a selection of four shorts including Como si la tierra se las hubiera tragado, directed by Natalia León, an animated short that won the jury award at the Sundance Film Festival.

“In Olivia’s Mexican hometown, femicide and gender-based violence are increasing at an alarming rate,” notes a description of León’s film in the program guide for Hot Docs, where the film also played. “Upon her return after a long absence, she quickly notices the city walls are covered with posters of missing women. The mistreatment of women is pervasive, and the once-vibrant city is gradually losing its vitality.”

After playing a key role in the original Netflix Daredevil series - as well as Jessica Jones and The Punisher - fans were surprised not to see Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney return for Daredevil: Born Again.

Mahoney was determined to remain honest in a department full of dirty cops, and even though he was against Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) vigilante methods, he aided Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson in their cases and ultimately came to see the Man Without Fear as a force for good.

Mahoney was instrumental in putting Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars towards the end of season 3.

Now, fitness coach Naqam Washington has pretty much confirmed that actor Royce Johnson will reprise the role for season 2 of Born Again, which recently wrapped production in New York.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will feature another fan-favorite vigilante alongside the titular character. Ever since it was confirmed that Krysten Ritter would reprise her role as Jessica Jones alongside Defenders alum Charlie Cox, fans have been anxious to learn more about the long-awaited return. It seems her MCU debut will be as exciting as promised, while still feeling familiar to those who love the tone of the Netflix Marvel era.

During an interview with ScreenRant, Krysten Ritter was asked about her role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Not only did she confirm that she will indeed put on Jessica Jones' signature boots again, but that fans of the Netflix shows will feel at home with the "gritty" second season. The extent of her role has not been revealed thus far, but it seems the Jessica Jones star is more than elated with how Born Again is treating the character.

Krysten Ritter: "It's very exciting.

Earlier this year, we finally got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress has now teased her return as the hard-drinking Pi during an interview with Screen Rant.

As you might expect, Ritter didn't get into plot details, simply noting that she is "thrilled to be back in Jessica's boots. There's more story for her and it's really exciting."

"Oh, it's gritty," she added. "It feels big too. The crew's amazing. I've had an amazing experience. I can't say anything, but I love being with Charlie [Cox]. It was as if no time had passed. Well, it looks like that might be it for Daredevil: Born Again set photos for a while. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to Instagram to confirm that shooting has wrapped on the upcoming second season. Reshoots are always possible, but it will now move into post-production.

When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced by Marvel Studios, it was as an 18-episode series. That was soon broken up into two seasons, though we'd later learn that season 2 will consist of 8 episodes rather than 9.

As for a potential season 3, that's been talked about but isn't likely to be confirmed until Disney+ sees how the second batch of episodes performs.

We already knew that Daredevil: Born Again was shaping up to be a very different show prior to the much-discussed creative overhaul, but it sounds like original showrunners Matt Corman and Chris Ord (and likely some studio higher-ups) were more determined to distance the Disney+ revival from its Netflix predecessor than we realized.

The duo are starring alongside each other once again in the Marvel TV series, and they were seen walking on set on Monday (June 16) in New York City. Michael Gandolfini, who portrays Daniel Blake, was also seen.

If you don’t know, Krysten famously paid the titular character in the Netflix show Jessica Jones from 2015-2019. Daredevil: Born Again is a revival of the original Daredevil series, which ran on Netflix from 2015-2018. Now, Krysten will be back for season two of the Daredevil series!

“I am so excited to bring back this iconic character. Without giving too much away… there’s much in store for Jessica Jones – this is going to be an incredible season,” Krysten said at the time her casting was announced, per Deadline.

Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 started on February 28, 2025. The show is being directed by Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Meera Menon, Clark Johnson, and Logan Coles, using the working title Out the Kitchen 2. Hillary Fyfe Spera is back as the cinematographer from Season 1, along with Jeffrey Waldron, who’s working on some of the new episodes.

In late March, scenes were shot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, at the set of Josie’s Bar, where Charlie Cox was seen wearing his black Daredevil suit in surfaced set leaks. In early April, actor Wilson Bethel was spotted filming in Chelsea. By mid-May, the filming was halfway done, and it’s expected to wrap up in July.

The latest set video confirms that filming is still underway. In one of the recent leaks, Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll are seen relaxing on set, further confirming that Woll will return to reprise her role.

Last month, it was confirmed that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in season 2. She's since been spotted on set (you can see those snaps below), and Charlie Cox has broken his silence on reteaming with his Defenders co-star in an interview with Deadline.

"There’s a mutual respect for one another," he teased. "She finds him overly serious and too much of a choir boy, and he finds her to be crass and making light of too many serious situations; she’s more antihero than hero."

However, Cox has one big question about their reunion, which Daredevil: Born Again may or may not answer.

Martin, but it seems the project is moving quicker than many anticipated. The nine episode first season of the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again has already come and gone (you can read our review Here), but the good news is, season 2 started filming at the end of February and we already know when it’s going to premiere! Showrunner Dario Scardapane recently took to social media to confirm that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will premiere in March 2026. A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Krysten Ritter will be reprising the role of Jessica Jones (from the appropriately titled Marvel / Netflix series Jessica Jones) in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and now Ritter has already been spotted on the set! Though the show certainly had its share of detractors, Daredevil: Born Again was a big hit with critics (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), and seemed to be embraced by the majority of fans as one of Marvel's better Disney+ efforts.

We had also been led to believe that the Man Without Fear's revival series did pretty good numbers for the streaming service, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Daredevil: Born Again has become the first live-action Marvel Studios series not to make Nielsen's Top 10 Original Streaming Shows List. The only other Marvel streaming titles to fail to find their way onto the list were animated.

Born Again is also the second live-action MCU Disney+ show not to make Nielsen's overall top 10 after Secret Invasion.

We recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter would be making her return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress was spotted filming scenes alongside co-star Charlie Cox in these latest set photos.

Miss Jones hasn't updated her wardrobe since we last saw her on Netflix, and is still rocking the signature blue jeans and leather jacket combo. Cox, meanwhile, is sporting the Man Without Fear's back costume with the red "Dd" chest logo.

The Defenders had its share of issues, but the often contentious relationship between Jones and Daredevil was a definite highlight, so it should be interesting to revisit their dynamic in the MCU.

By now, we're sure the majority of you have seen Daredevil: Born Again, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.

Matt Murdock's long-time friend and partner Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was assassinated by Bullseye in the pilot episode, prompting Murdock to hang up the horns... until he's compelled to suit-up again to battle crime and corruption in New York City later on in the season.

The decision to kill off such a beloved character did not sit well with some fans, but Cox believes it was necessary to "shake things up" a bit and give the story some genuine stakes.

"The awful thing that happens in Born Again, that was the gift for me as the actor, was the death of Foggy. I mean, tragic in terms of the show loses an element that, I think, was the heartbeat of Daredevil," said Cox during a new interview with SAG-AFTRA.

After leaving his ultra-violent fingerprints on Daredevil: Born Again, Frank Castle is set to return for his own Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation.

Star Jon Bernthal will co-write the script with his We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is also on board to helm the Special.

"It's like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," Marvel's head of streaming Bard Winderbaum said after the project was made official. "It's so exciting."

Winderbaum went on to reveal that the idea for a Punisher standalone story manifested during production on Born Again, which saw Matt Murdock team-up with his old frenemy to take down members of Wilson Fisk's anti-vigilante task force.

"Bernthal is a generational actor," Winderbaum added. "He's incredible what he brings to all the roles he plays, but particularly Frank Castle.

The new war movie from filmmaker Alex Garland has pulled off a major box office feat for A24. Garland began his career as a novelist, but he broke into film when his 1996 novel The Beach was adapted into a movie in 2000. Although the adaptation was written by John Hodge (Trainspotting), Garland later collaborated with The Beach director Danny Boyle, writing the screenplays for his movies 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and the upcoming 28 Years Later.

Eventually, the roster of Alex Garland movies began to expand even more. After writing the screenplay for 2012's Dredd, he made his feature-length directorial debut with the 2014 sci-fi movie Ex Machina, which he also wrote. He then went on to both write and direct the 2018 Jeff VanderMeer adaptation Annihilation, the 2022 horror movie Men, and the 2024 dystopian thriller Civil War in addition to creating the FX series Devs, for which he wrote and directed all eight episodes.

When The Conjuring and Outer Range star Lili Taylor was announced as being part of the Daredevil: Born Again cast, it was said that she'd be a political foil to Vincent D'Onofrio's Mayor Wilson Fisk.

Talking to Rural Intelligence about her new book, Turning to Birds: The Power and Beauty of Noticing, Taylor spilt the beans on her role. "I’m the Governor, which is great," the actor confirmed. It's been confirmed at the Disney Upfronts today that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. This marks The Defenders star's official MCU debut.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daredevil: Born Again was a hit for Disney+ as the series was a "solid performer" that "[notched] an uptick" with the finale. It also gave the Netflix-era Daredevil seasons a boost on the platform.

Matthew Lillard is no stranger to franchise fare, and he'll make his MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. So far, the actor is the biggest new addition to the Disney+ series, though there's no word on who the actor is playing.

Warfare has now landed on VOD following its glowing response from audiences in theaters.
