A couple years ago, we heard that AMC was developing a third TV series based on the works of Anne Rice, adding to the franchise they’ve been building out of the Vampire Chronicles novels and the Mayfair Witch books written by Rice. AMC is expanding its Immortal Universe franchise with Talamasca: The Secret Order, and the network debuted a new trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, confirming its Halloween-centric release date. AMC has done well with the works of author Anne Rice, first with Interview with the Vampire and then with Mayfair Witches. The next entry in the franchise, dubbed the Immortal Universe, will not be based on a specific book series, but rather on the concept of the Talamasca, a secret organization that appears across the franchise.

Talamasca: The Secret Order will debut on AMC on Oct. 26, 2025, and follow the secret organization that monitors vampires, witches, demons, and all manner of supernatural characters. The trailer features the main cast, including Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Jason Schwartzman in a guest role. The biggest reveal is that Eric Bogosian will return as his character Daniel Molloy, last seen in Interview with the Vampire.

During AMC’s Anne Rice universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con, audiences were treated to a special sneak peek at the upcoming series Anne Rice’s Talamasca, which premieres sometime this year, lead by Downton Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern.

The clip features McGovern’s Helen, who leads the Talamasca’s New York offices, recounting her beginnings with the mysterious organization to Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton), a lonely man with strange and unusual powers. Standing in an abandoned building that used to be a Talamasca facility, she reveals that she was introduced to the secret society at just eight years old, and she flashes back to her childhood, being tested for powers with another, similar-looking young girl.

Eric Bogosian, who portrays investigative journalist and author, Daniel Molloy, in Interview with the Vampire will reprise his role, guest starring as a crossover character in Talamasca.

Bogosian, a cynical journalist in his 70s with Parkinson’s disease and a long history of drug and alcohol abuse whose interview with Louis in 1973 ends with him being attacked and is later summoned to redo their interview.

The 2025 Emmy Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday, July 15, and one might assume the job of Emmy voters is much more difficult now than it was 20 years ago. While there have always been a good number of series being shown, with all the streaming services currently, there are almost too many to choose from.

Some series or actor is going to be snubbed in the awards process. Perhaps some smaller-budget show doesn't get the flowers it deserves. Maybe an overlooked actor performing in a quality PBS Masterpiece program gets forgotten.

AMC Networks has shared updates on its new series Anne Rice’s Talamasca, which debuts this October.

Besides sharing first-look photos, producers announced that Celine Buckens is becoming a regular castmember while Jason Schwartzman is set to guest star. Produced by AMC Studios, Anne Rice’s Talamasca focuses on a secretive society called the Talamasca, comprised of the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.

Buckens stars as Doris, an old soul who lives with a coven of witches on a houseboat, while Schwartzman portrays Burton, a rakish vampire leading a cloistered life in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse. They join the previously announced ensemble of Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner and Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Buckens is represented by Independent Talent Group. Schwartzman is represented by Ocean Avenue, UTA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Elsewhere in the Anne Rice universe, AMC Networks announced that Interview with the Vampire is set to start production next month on its third season in Toronto, which will follow Sam Reid’s Vampire Lestat and his rock band on tour. The series returns next year.

Moriarty, who did not write a follow-up book to “Nine Perfect Strangers,” gave the team her blessing for a second installment of the series, which was renewed by Hulu for a Season 2 in June 2023, well after Season 1 first premiered in 2021. And since “Nine Perfect Strangers” first premiered nearly four years ago, EP Bruna Papandrea noted psilocybin (a.k.a. magic mushrooms) have been embraced tenfold, opening the door for countless stories unlocking past traumas.

“There’s no underlying material at all, no ongoing story,” Papandrea told TheWrap, noting that Season 2 picks up with Masha’s past controversies having been written about and publicized heavily.
