Rene van Pannevis

In 2013, Rene van Pannevis graduated from NYU Tisch film school. His teacher Oliver Stone was a great inspiration. In his first year his short GODVERDOMME! (Goddamnit!) premiered at Oscar qualified festival Palm Springs. After NYU Rene moved to Amsterdam where he finished his no budget thesis film JUNKIE XL that opened at Hamburg International film festival. But Amsterdam became too small. In 2015, Film London funded his BIFA award winning short JACKED starring Thomas Turgoose (This Is England) and Charley Palmer Rothwell (Legend). The short had its national premiere at BFI London Film Festival and International premiere at the Berlinale. JACKED became the inspiration of his debut feature LOOTED that won the FIPRESCI award at Tallinn film festival and has sold for UK distribution. It was long-listed for seven BIFA awards including Best Director and Best Screenplay, and was nominated for the Discovery Award 2020.

Besides writing and directing film Rene very much enjoys the duties of a film jury.
