The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally did right by Marvel's First Family on screen, but it would be wrong to say that there weren't some nitpicks.
Chief among them was the portrayal of Mister Fantastic's powers. Reed Richards' stretching abilities were dialled back and grounded in reality, an interesting decision on filmmaker Matt Shakman's part that, unfortunately, robbed us of some incredible visuals.
In a new piece of concept art from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, artist Dipankar Talukdar has pushed the limits of what Reed can do. As you'll see below, the hero wraps himself around Galactus' arm while holding Franklin's protective pod in one of his hands.

There's a lot of overlap between the Fantastic Four and "Star Trek. Both franchises are pulp sci-fi born from the 1960s "New Frontier" optimism that the stars were within our reach. "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" director Matt Shakman understands that. Before he signed up for "First Steps," Shakman was even going to direct a "Star Trek" movie, and it still feels like he was getting the "Trek" out of his system when making this one. "First Steps" portrays the F4 as astronauts more so than any previous movies. They even take a starship ride to seek out the planet eater Galactus (Ralph Ineson), after his herald the Silver Surfer...

Disney’s Destination D23 2025 came and went, and the Walt Disney Studios panel was shorter than many fans had hoped when it came to updates on Avengers: Doomsday.
Despite the limited new information, there was one standout moment. The Russo Brothers appeared on screen with Paul Rudd, sharing a message from the set that excited the audience. The directors told fans that Avengers: Doomsday is the biggest film they have ever worked on.
Paul Rudd then shared his own message, giving fans a glimpse of what’s happening behind the scenes. “We’re surrounded by jaw dropping sets and some truly incredible talent, many of who you just saw teased in that great video.

We've been hearing a great deal about Chris Evans' role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor has repeatedly denied reports about his return, but the trades were first to reveal that he and Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter would be part of the movie, and they're rarely wrong.
Recently, we've been led to believe that Captain America will be a key figure in this story, all because of what he did in Avengers: Endgame. In the 2019 movie, Steve travelled back in time to return the Infinity Stones to their rightful place in history. However, his decision to remain in the past for a happy ending with Peggy might...

The legendary director spoke about his plans recently, saying, “Gladiator is in process right now. Another Alien prequel – yeah, if I get an idea, for sure.”

“I’m proud about this. I turned down a $20 million fee. See, I can’t be bought, dude,” Scott said in an interview with The Guardian published Thursday.

When Marvel Studios unveiled the Multiverse Saga slate, the plan was for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to be released in May 2025, with Avengers: Secret Wars following this November.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally brought Marvel’s First Family to the big screen in style, delivering a retro-futuristic adventure that’s equal parts family drama and cosmic spectacle.
Directed by Matt Shakman and starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, the film skips the tired origin story to dive straight into the team’s established heroics.

Marvel’s ambitious reboot, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, arrived with cosmic fanfare but crashed at the box office, sparking debates about superhero fatigue and the MCU’s trajectory.
Despite a stellar cast—Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm—and a unique retro-futuristic vibe, the film grossed just $491.9 million worldwide against a $200 million budget.
While profitable on paper, its performance pales next to MCU heavy-hitters, especially with DC’s Superman soaring past $600 million in the same summer slot. As Phase Six opener, this stumble raises red flags for Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Yet, history shows...

As per Deadline, September 12, 2025 onwards, the Iraq War drama will be available to watch on HBO Max in the US, with its official HBO premiere airing the same evening at 8 Pm Et.
Directed by Alex Garland and Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza, Warfare tells a gripping, real-time story of a Navy Seal platoon living inside an Iraqi family’s home while tracking US troop movements through insurgent territory. Overall, the film doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of war, making it thought-provoking and tough to watch.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Concept Art Reveals A Touching Moment That Didn't Make The Final Cut
The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a breezy adventure for the McU's First Family with a runtime under two hours. Still, John Malkovich's Red Ghost was left on the cutting room floor, and the team's previous adventures were condensed into an admittedly fun opening montage.
Unlike many of Earth 616's heroes, the Fantastic Four are celebrities and beloved by the public. In a new piece of concept art shared by Rodney Fuentebella, we learn that the team spends time visiting sick children in the hospital.

It was earlier this month that we first heard about a supposed clash between two actors on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. A joke was said to have been received poorly, prompting a verbal altercation that saw Marvel Studios offer the aggrieved, unnamed star the opportunity to shoot all future scenes separately.
The fact that would cost millions of dollars showed the actor that the studio had taken their complaints seriously, and it was enough for them to let bygones be bygones. Both parties reportedly shook hands and moved on, but speculation ran rampant online about who was involved.

There's a lot of intrigue surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, especially as we've seen little in the way of buildup to the movie originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Sure, we've had a few Multiversal tales in the "Multiverse Saga," but only the post-credits scenes for Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have really teed up Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom as the McU's new big bad.
Thunderbolts* established that the New Avengers and Sam Wilson's Avengers team are butting heads over a trademark, and according to The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, that schism will be a big plot point heading into Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps is now approaching its sixth weekend in theaters, and the MCU reboot is still hanging in there at the box office.
Despite the perception that the latest big-screen outing for Marvel's First Family underperformed (it's probably safe to assume it didn't do as well as the studio hoped it would), the movie is expected to pass the $500 million mark this weekend. Not an outstanding showing, but far from a disaster in the current box office climate.
Will we get a sequel? The team is set to return for Avengers: Doomsday, and rumor has it that director Matt Shakman has had discussions about taking the helm of another movie.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite vast, which means there are several angles and characters from which stories can be told. An expansion to the McU's Avengers franchise has not materialized since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Marvel is intent on changing that narrative soon, with the addition of two Avengers movies in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Both will help wrap the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. Doomsday comes first, with a release date of late 2026 already set as fans look ahead to the return of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. However, a major MCU star has yet to hear if she will be back for the upcoming movie.

'Avengers: Doomsday' Star Teases a "Simpler Role" For His 'Black Panther' Character in Team-Up Movie
Avengers: Doomsday is turning into a superhero fest bigger than Avengers: Endgame. Most high-profile actors are either already engaged or are rumored to be attached to the project. While actors like Robert Downey Jr and Anthony Mackie treat fans with behind-the-scenes teases, some like Alan Cumming naively give out important details. However, there are a few actors who are talking about the scope of their roles. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta is among them.

“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” Huerta said on TV Azteca’s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi on Sunday. “They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”

Earlier this year, Benedict Cumberbatch dropped a surprising update on his MCU return as Doctor Strange, appearing to confirm that he wouldn't be a part of Avengers: Doomsday, but would be back as the (former) Sorcerer Supreme for Secret Wars.
The Sherlock actor indicated that Strange's involvement in the next big MCU event movie was rendered unnecessary when plans pivoted from Kang to Doctor Doom after Jonathan Majors' firing.
"Is that a spoiler? F*** it!" Cumberbatch told Variety after mentioning that he would not be a part of Doomsday. "The character [was] not aligning with this part of the story."

After a strong opening weekend, The Fantastic Four: First Steps' box office run fell off a proverbial cliff, with the film now destined to severely underperform despite strong critical and fan reception. Starring the team of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby,Joseph Quinn, andEbon Moss-Bachrach, The Fantastic Four: First Steps seemed destined for glory, especially following its praise-filled debut, but, alas, perhaps we must temper our Doomsday expectations as time edges closer to the next big Avengers event.
However, despite a poor run to fate, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has still managed to pick up several impressive box office milestones through the sheer size of its IP alone. Thanks to...

Though they weren't part of the first cast announcement, both Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell are expected to reprise their respective roles as Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter for Avengers: Doomsday, and Daniel Richtman is reporting that they have begun filming their scenes.
The chances of catching a glimpse of the actors in set photos seem slim, as Doomsday hasn't been shooting outdoors (or only on well-secured closed sets) since those early shots of the X-Mansion and a downed Sentinel found their way online back in May.
Possible spoilers follow.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Worldwide Box Office ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the latest reboot of Marvel’s First Family, has already outgrossed Captain America: Brave New World globally to become the ninth highest-grossing movie of the year. With a worldwide tally of $490.5 million, the next three 2025 films it trails are Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, F1, and Superman. However, given its current momentum and fresh competition from recent releases like Weapons, it looks unlikely that First Steps will outgross these three titles during its theatrical run.
According to a report by Screenrant, The Fantastic Four: First Steps was made on a budget of around $200 million.

We didn't expect to see Dafne Keen as Laura, aka X-23, again following her acclaimed turn in James Mangold's Logan, but the His Dark Materials star was given the opportunity to reprise the role in Shawn Levy's Deadpool and Wolverine as part of a Void Resistance team alongside Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and the late Johnny Storm (Chris Evans).
Laura appears again in the closing moments of the movie, having reunited with Logan and the Merc With a Mouth, leaving the door open for her eventual return.

Marvel Studios and filmmaker Matt Shakman have made no secret of the fact that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is heavily inspired by the work of legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby.
In an early montage, we see Marvel's First Family wearing classic versions of the suits they donned in Fantastic Four #1 to battle Mole Man, while their current costumes also don't shy away from that retrofuturistic 1960s-inspired vibe.
Ryan Meinerding, Character Designer, Creative Director, and Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, has now shared a first look at some early suit designs for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. At first glance, they're quite similar, but upon closer inspection, we're...

Ever since whispers of some tension on the set of Avengers: Doomsday began to circulate online, fans have been speculating about which cast members might be involved. A lot of people know the names of the actors in question, but nobody wants to be the first to spill the tea.
John Rocha shared some updates on his YouTube channel last night, and while he declined to mention any names - just to be clear, it was not Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds - he did provide a few more details on what is said to have gone down.
It seems one actor said something that made their co-star very upset.

Marvel Studios seemingly went to great lengths to ensure The Fantastic Four: First Steps would clock in at less than 2 hours. However, as with many MCU movies, several scenes were shot that didn't make it into the final cut.
A few of these will likely be included with the eventual Blu-ray release, while others are likely unfinished and will remain forever locked away in Marvel Studios' Burbank-based headquarters.
Reliable leaker @Cryptic4KQual has shared a breakdown of many moments from The Fantastic Four: First Steps that we didn't get to see in theaters (it appears this intel was gleaned from test screenings). For starters, they confirm that the reboot originally...

Things were looking bleak for The Fantastic Four: First Steps a few weeks ago. Despite positive reviews and a strong start at the U.S. box office, ticket sales dropped significantly during its second and third weekends in theaters, suggesting it could finish its run in the same $400 million ballpark as Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
The Marvel Studios movie has since regained its footing in a not dissimilar manner to Elemental and Mufasa: The Lion King. Now, it's worth noting that The Fantastic Four: First Steps won't quite reach the same heights as the two Disney blockbusters initially deemed "flops," but it's no longer in danger of ending up with under $500 million.

Despite talk that The Fantastic Four: First Steps hasn’t become the massive blockbuster many fans expected, it has still outperformed the MCU’s earlier 2025 releases — Thunderbolts* and Captain America: Brave New World. With a global haul of over $475 million, the film is now expected to cross the $500 million mark, its break-even point against a reported $200 million budget. It remains to be seen how much profit it can generate beyond that figure.
Recently, the Fantastic Four reboot has outgrossed several popular films, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), It: Chapter Two (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), The Matrix (1999), Gladiator (2000), and...

"Gladiator" is a Ridley Scott classic that blew the box office away when it released in the summer of 2000. Scott recently returned to the Roman saga with a sequel, "Gladiator II," that stars Paul Mescal and a scene-stealing Denzel Washington. While the "Gladiator" franchise is a fixture of cinema, though, one common question is whether it's based on a historical true story, or whether it's mere fiction. In the case of Russell Crowe's titular Gladiator," in particular, is Maximus' harrowing tale a bona fide reality, or is it made up of whole cloth?
The short answer is that it's mostly the latter. "Gladiator" is not based on a true story,...

Despite the perception that The Fantastic Four: First Steps underperformed at the box office, the movie has proved to have stronger legs domestically than many expected.
According to the latest updates, the new big-screen outing for Marvel's First Family took in $1.6 million on Friday - a -35.9% drop from last week - and now looks set to finish its domestic run at around $275 million (it should pass $500M worldwide).
Though it's difficult to imagine Marvel Studios being overjoyed with the reboot's takings, it was a bigger hit than 2025's other MCU releases, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
As for Superman, James Gunn's Dcu reboot has now officially passed $600 million globally.
