Exclusive: Joshua Coates’ film Divine Direction has wrapped filming in Philadelphia, Pa.

The movie tells the story of a father who is also a Pastor and grapples with his faith as his son battles a rare form of kidney cancer. Divine Direction is based on the heartfelt true-life story of Charles Moorer and based on his two books Standing on the World of Adoni and Giving Up Is Not an Option.

Dorian Gregory stars in the dual lead roles of Charles Moorer and his twin brother, Quinton Moorer. With over 70 film and television credits to his name, Gregory is best known for his portrayal of Darryl Morris on the hit TV series Charmed, which aired from 1998 to 2005. The cast also includes Tamala Jones as Cora Moorer, Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts as Dr. Patrick Batra, and Geoffrey Owens as Charles Moorer Sr. Co-Starring, Torrei Hart as Crystal Moorer, Judae’a as Chelsea Moorer, and Golden Globe and Grammy-winning gospel singer Regina Belle as Aunt Gertrude. Comedian Marcus D. Wiley makes his on-screen debut as Pastor Reggie Fletcher and introducing newcomer Shamere Dunswell as Chad Moorer.

Coates in addition to adapting and directing, also produced.

The film will be released by One Culture, a multinational TV and film distribution company based in Atlanta, Ga.

Coates is the President and CEO of 20/20 Visions Entertainment Group, based in West Hollywood. His most recent feature, Ageless Love, was released in 2022.

The pic is a production of 20/20 Visions Entertainment Group in association with 4C Music Productions. The film is executive produced by Charles Moorer and produced by Coates and Pete Postiglione.

Director Rob Masciantonio who brought us the epic gorefest that was Neighbor has given us a heads up on what's next for him. He's announced his next project will be a short film called Fairyland and has plans to submit it to Sundance this summer.

Fairlyland deals with taking characters from myths and fables and puts them in a world where Soprano-types are real. There's a Facebook page set up for the short now so head over and check it out.

Personally I've read the script and it looks like a lot of twisty fun, especially at the end of course! There will be several Neighbor alumnus joining Masciantonio on this project including Pete Postiglione, Stink Fisherand Brea Bee with Josh Bender producing and you might even get to see a "certain geek" appear in it somewhere, who knows.

Hey everyone! Sorry I was not around last week I took a mini vacay but now I am back! I am sure you all had plenty to read with Comic-Con and all! Anyways, there's not too much coming out this week but here's a few for you!

 

Clash of the Titans

If he is to save the life of the beautiful Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos), the valiant Perseus (Sam Worthington) -- born to a god but raised as a man -- must lead a team of intrepid warriors on a quest to battle a host of powerful, beastly enemies. This sweeping fantasy epic, a remake of the 1981 hit, also stars Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Danny Huston as Poseidon and Gemma Arterton as Io.

This was not as good as the first one in my opinion. Worth a watch though.

The Cinema Slaughter Horror Film Festival will begin Friday, April 23rd and run until May 7th. Two films will show, which include Neighbor and Shellter. Shellter involves an underground medical facility and the living dead. The film sees a world infected with a virus where "the only way of curing the infection is by surgically removing the affected area" (Shellter). On the other side of the coin, Neighbor is about an anonymous girl who goes door to door "torturing and slaughtering anyone" who gets in her way (Neighbor). A decade after his well-received venture into the vampire genre, Cold Hearts, writer/director Robert A. Masciantonio is back with a decidedly more hardcore horror outing, Neighbor. The filmmaker sent along some exclusive and nasty photos (see ’em below) and info on the film, which will have its premiere at this summer’s Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.

“Neighbor was shot in only 18 days in January and February of this year in cold Philadelphia and its suburbs,” Masciantonio tells Fango. “We had so much fun making this film, and having it debut at Fantasia is an absolute thrill. It’s going to be amazing seeing the finished product with the core audience! I hope they love our Girl as much as I do.”

Said antiheroine is played by America Olivo, who’s amassing quite a horror résumé with the Friday The 13th redux, Blood Wars and the upcoming Bitch Slap and The Last Resort.
