Exclusive Look at Time Sensitive, Coming Soon from Joshua Rubin’s Strange Land Comics
Image
You know Emmy-winning writer Joshua Rubin from his work on Assassin’s Creed II, Destiny, and, especially, Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Now, he's launching Strange Land Comics, a new boutique studio dedicated to "high-concept, mind-bending, brain-candy sci-fi." The first project: Time Sensitive, an existential sci-fi thriller that's coming to Kickstarter, and we have all the details, along with an exclusive preview just for Daily Dead readers!

“I’ve spent decades writing games that gave you the joy of shooting aliens in the head, while also trying to make you cry over your controller,” said Rubin. “Now, with Strange Land Comics, I’m aiming for that same mix of emotional punches and mind-bending adventure — but with fewer cheat codes.”

A New Home for Elevated Sci-Fi Comics

Strange Land Comics is committed to pushing the boundaries of the medium, delivering genre fiction for grown-ups — stories that blend action, emotion, and existential twists.

Telltale’s Game Of Thrones Will Premiere Before The End Of 2014
Despite juggling three projects concurrently in The Walking Dead: Season Two, Tales From the Borderlands and Game of Thrones, Telltale Games has reaffirmed that the studio’s take on George R.R. Martin’s sprawling epic will still premiere before the year’s end.

That’s according to the studio’s community and PR expert, Laura Perusco, who replied to a fan through Twitter who asked when the episodic title would hit Xbox One.

@RatedR2012 No specific release date announced yet, but I can confirm that the season Is premiering later this year.

— Laura Perusco (@lauraperusco) October 24, 2014

So, it would seem that the maiden episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones will indeed launch before the end of 2014 — the release window that was originally attached to the project back when it was first unveiled in the closing stages of last year. It’s unclear exactly when that launch will be,...

Juego de tronos (2011)
Telltale's “Game of Thrones” video game snagged a writer who's a familiar name to the gaming industry. Joshua Rubin, who has spent the last two years working on Bungie and Activision's highly anticipated upcoming “Destiny,” was tapped to spearhead the adaptation of HBO's hit series and George R. R. Martin‘s best-selling novels. Dante’s Inferno 2 in Development?
While Dante’s Inferno wasn’t a commercial and critical failure, it certainly didn’t have the sales and critical response to merit EA fast tracking a sequel into development. However, fans Dante’s Inferno and developer Visceral Games will be happy to hear that a sequel may be in development.

Joshua Rubin, a video game writer who has worked on Assassin Creed II (among other games), updated his bio page and revealed that he’s working on “a Major Unannounced Sequel from Visceral Studios at EA Games”. He offered a link as a hint which led to the Dante’s Inferno Super Bowl trailer.

Dead Space 3‘s development is a given at this point and Visceral doesn’t have any other in-house properties they could make a sequel out of. Consider this just a rumor at this point, but we’ll keep an eye out for new information related to the project.

Everyone who’s seen this list have the same thing to say about it more or less, and that is, what exactly is Wet, X-Men, and Modern Warfare doing on that list when there were other games like Dragon Age: Origins that certainly had great stories and dialog. Now I’m not going to defend MW2’s cookie-cutter military story, but...

Denzel Washington in El libro de Eli (2010)
'The Book of Eli': Who knew that videogame writers were...writers? Plus, a thought on Eric Rohmer
Denzel Washington in El libro de Eli (2010)
It came as no surprise when I learned that Gary Whitta, who wrote the screenplay -- and I use the term generously -- for the Hughes brothers' postapocalyptic dud The Book of Eli, has a background in videogames. An Englishman, born in 1972, Whitta was one of the founders of PC Gamer magazine and also served as its editor-in-chief. In addition to writing scripts for shows like Star Trek: Voyager, he has been a consultant on numerous game franchises and, according to his Wikipedia entry, is best known as a writer on games like Duke Nukem Forever, Prey, and Gears of War.
