While the rest of the country was enjoying the July Fourth weekend, a community in Texas was dealing with an unthinkable tragedy. Unexpected flash flooding tore through the Texas Hill Country region, which is about two hours from Austin, Texas.

The flood cost the lives of over 100 confirmed victims. Hundreds more are still missing.

Robert Earl Keen has revealed a heavy-hitting lineup for his Aug. 28 benefit for central Texas flood relief. Tyler Childers will join Keen and his band to cap a day-long bill of artists including Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall, Jack Ingram, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cody Jinks, Ryan Bingham, and Randy Rogers for the show at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, Texas, dubbed “Rek and Friends: Applause for the Cause.”

A community in Texas is still mourning the devastating loss of life suffered earlier this month. Flash floods rushed through Kerr County unexpectedly over the July 4th holiday. As of today, there are over 120 dead, with another 100 still missing.

Some of those caught in the floods were young girls at summer camp at Camp Mystic. According to multiple reports, dozens of the young campers and camp counselors were among the death toll.

Wade Bowen never stopped pouring his heart out in his songs. What’s different about him after 25-plus years of music is the amount of joy in those pours.
