‘WWE Nxt’ Review (Jul 29th 2025)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Jaida Parker def. Jazmyn Nyx The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Nxt Women’s Champion and Tna Knockouts Champion Jacy Jayne was put on notice as Jaida Parker defeated the champion’s Fatal Influence teammate, Jazmyn Nyx. Nyx showed off her swift feet, but it wasn’t enough to pierce the powerful Parker. After hitting the Silencer on Nyx, Parker lined her up for a picture-perfect Hipnotic to win the match in front of Jayne.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Tavion Heights def. Charlie Dempsey The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Tavion Heights won his freedom from the No Quarter Catch Crew by defeating Charlie Dempsey in a hotly contested match. Dempsey targeted the limbs of Heights,...

Image
While WWE Evolution featured several nail-biting matches, intense altercations, and power-packed performances for the fans, the premium live event gained significance due to its uniquely historical nature.

Apart from being the only second all-women’s pay-per-view event, it also served as a launching point for several WWE superstars to mark fresh beginnings in the company. In this regard, the Ple event introduced new angles into the already intense scenarios in the women’s division of the company.

Highlighting the unique value of this Ple event, here are the top 5 surprise moments that fans witnessed in WWE Evolution.

5. Bianca Belair Biance Belair was the special guest referee for Jade Cargill vs Naomi at WWE Evolution. (Image Credit: WWE)

Although it wasn’t a surprise until the last moment. But Bianca Belair’s return as the match official for a no-holds-barred match between former best friends Naomi and Jade Cargill was astonishing for the WWE universe.

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Tna World Championship – Trick Williams def. Josh Briggs The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Tna World Title remains with Trick Williams, but he already has his hands full with his next potential challenge. Williams quickly learned that he was in for a fight as his power advantage was non-existent against the hulking Briggs, and the sneaky athleticism fooled the champion as the challenger countered a Powerbomb with a Chokeslam that nearly ended the bout. An incredible exchange of moves saw Briggs knock Williams to the mat, but his Moonsault missed the mark, allowing the champion to hit Trick Shot to win the match.

My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Je’Von Evans def. Tavion Heights The following is courtesy of wwe.

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Evolution Eliminator – Jaida Parker def. Thea Hail The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Jaida Parker became the first Superstar to move on in the Evolution Eliminator as she defeated Thea Hail, albeit not without controversy. Hail attacked Parker before the match even began and launched a ferocious assault, culminating in her devastating signature Kimura Lock. Parker appeared to tap out and Hail relinquished the hold to celebrate, but the official never saw the tap, prompting Parker to hit a Hipnotic to knock Hail out and win the match.

Match #1: Nxt North American Championship – Ethan Page def. Sean Legacy The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

WWE Evolve’s Sean Legacy put up an incredible fight, but the North American Title remains with Ethan Page. The Nxt Universe was firmly behind Legacy and he had the champion in trouble with his high-flying moves and his swift kicks. Unfortunately for him, All Ego is a seasoned veteran and promptly countered a 450 splash into a Twisted Grin to retain his title. After the match, Ricky Saints appeared out of nowhere and brawled with Page around the arena.

WWE made its final pit stop on the road to Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia this weekend with a SmackDown show that was pre-taped after last Friday's episode. Jey Uso and the original Bloodline took center stage, raising their ones to the sky in unison as Roman Reigns and Jey Uso had a very frank conversation. Jey is his own man in 2024 and respect must be paid as Roman and The Usos will face The Bloodline at this weekend's Ple.

Elsewhere, The Street Profits defeated Pretty Deadly after they'd finished flirting with Hamilton creator Lin-Maunel Miranda, Iyo Sky won an action-packed Fatal Four Way, Liv Morgan pinned a particularly feisty and threatening Tiffany Stratton, and Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton defeated Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser in the night's Main Event, before Kevin Owens spoiled the night's celebrations.

This week's WWE Raw from Philadelphia, Pa, saw a new champion crowned in an explosive main event for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: WWE Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Tournament – #DIY def. The Street Profits & Pretty Deadly The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

A chance to face The Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Title began tonight as #DIY, The Street Profits and Pretty Deadly combined in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. The Street Profits looked ready to seal the deal with an epic Blockbuster but #DIY connected with Meeting in the Middle on Kit Wilson. At the same time, Montez Ford covered Elton Prince while Tomasso Ciampa covered Wilson. After some confusion, the referee announced #DIY as the winners.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Lash Legend def. Piper Niven The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

4 Winners & 2 Losers From Last Night's SmackDown
Image
This was a very Bloodline-heavy episode of Friday Night Smackdown, as WWE slowly makes its way towards the Crown Jewel Ple. Jey Uso made a surprise appearance to plead with Solo Sikoa to stop messing with The Bloodline and heal their family, before again turning down the approaches of Roman Reigns and his brother Jimmy. Solo Sikoa had no time for family sentiment as he demanded Roman acknowledge him as the Tribal Chief. Reigns' refusal landed him his biggest beating by The Bloodline yet.

Cody Rhodes made a valiant attempt to validate the Crown Jewel Championship, which will be the prize for his upcoming Champion vs Champion match with Gunther. The Motor City Machine Guns made their WWE debut and booked a Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders match against DIY on next week's show. Piper Niven suffered defeat to Nxt's Lash Legend and Candice LeRae would cover for Tiffany Stratton...

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Damage Ctrl The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Nxt Superstars Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson were at ringside to watch Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Title against Damage Ctrl. Belair and Cargill looked to continue their incredible run, but Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane proved to be tough competitors. Sky went for the Over the Moonsault, but Cargill pulled Belair to safety. With the referee’s back turned, Legend and Jackson attacked Sky at ringside, allowing Belair to hit Sky with the K.O.D. to win the match.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5 Match #2: World Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders Tournament – The War Raiders def.

Match #1: LA Knight def. Carmelo Hayes The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Carmelo Hayes participated in his first title match since coming to SmackDown as he took on United States Champion LA Knight. Andrade made his way down to get a closer look at the action, playing mind games with Hayes. Hayes took it to the champion, countering the Bft with a kick to the back of Knight and almost scoring a shocking pinfall on The Megastar. The competitors exchanged counters until Knight landed the Bft to gain the win.

Match #1: The Fatal Influence def. Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Fallon Henley & Jacy Jayne’s reign of terror in Nxt continues as they defeated The Meta-Four’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson in tag team action. Legend and Jackson were in full control, but Henley showed incredible perseverance by continuing to battle after suffering an injury, earning respect from the Nxt Universe. The numbers game doomed Meta-Four as Jazmyn Nyx’s distraction allowed Jayne and Henley to regain control as they hit a Shining Wizard/Running Knee Strike combo to win the match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Karmen Petrovic def. Izzi Dame The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Match #1: No Disqualification Match – Brooks Jensen def. Josh Briggs The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Brooks Jensen picked up maybe the biggest win in his singles career by knocking off Josh Briggs thanks to an assist from Shawn Spears. Jensen attacked Briggs before the match could even begin, sparking all out chaos between the former tag team partners. The bigger Briggs used his power advantage to turn the tide and plant Jensen through the announce table with a brutal chokeslam. The deranged Jensen regained control thanks to a slew of weapons, going as far as to taunt Booker T on commentary as he hit Briggs with a kendo stick numerous times. As the two Superstars battled, Spears made his way to the...

Match #1: No. 1 Contender to Nxt Title Battle Royal – Winner: Je’Von Evans The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Competitors came far and wide, including SmackDown’s Tyler Bate and Apollo Crews, as well as Tna’s Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian. Bodies flew, chaos reigned, and the field slowly whittled to just Kazarian, SmackDown’s Dragon Lee, Je’Von Evans, and Shawn Spears. Lee didn’t realize that Spears was still a legal competitor as the electrifying luchador was tossed off the top rope to the outside. With just Evans and Spears left, The Young Og proved that he’s worthy...

Match #1: Nxt Women’s North American Championship 6-Woman Ladder Match – Winner: Kelani Jordan The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In a grueling Ladder Match, Kelani Jordan climbed to the top to become the first-ever Nxt Women’s North American Champion, defeating Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Michin, Fallon Henley and Jaida Parker. Jordan almost had the match won early as she remained on top of the ladder, but Legend and Parker combined to stretch both sides of Jordan in an excruciating submission hold atop the ladder. As Ruca and Legend fought on the ladder, Ruca tried to perform a sunset flip powerbomb, but Legend held the rungs. Unfortunately for her,...

Match #1: Jordynne Grace def. Stevie Turner The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Tna Knockouts Champion lived up to the hype and more as Jordynne Grace demolished Stevie Turner before her matchup with Nxt Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at Battleground. Grace knocked Turner all around the ring and the British Superstar could sustain any offense as one Juggernaut Driver secured the victory. After the match, Perez got into the ring, shoved Grace, and nearly was slammed to the mat before she got out of dodge.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Jazmyn Nyx def. Thea Hail The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The turmoil surrounding Chase U spelled bad news for Thea Hail Jazmyn Nyx picked up a huge win.

Match #1: Michin def. Tatum Paxley The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Michin is one step closer to making history as she defeated Tatum Paxley in a Women’s Nxt North American Championship Qualifying Match. Before the bell could even ring, both Superstars battled it out as Paxley tried to grab the newly unveiled title from the grasp of rapper Sexyy Red, and Michin didn’t take kindly to the disrespect. Michin looked as impressive as ever as she hit a huge dive to the outside as well as a devastating pounce, but the resilient Paxley absorbed every big shot and came just seconds away from winning the match herself. The two Superstars matched each other’s energy, but a perfect counter from...
