'Mortal Kombat II' Producer Teases Long-Term Franchise Plans
Image
Mortal Kombat II is hoping to pull off a flawless victory on the big screen when the highly anticipated sequel opens in theaters this October, and that’s saying something after how poorly the first film was received four years ago. Sure, the Covid-19 pandemic played its role, but the truth is that Mortal Kombat's shoddy storytelling had fans screaming "fatality" for all the wrong reasons in 2021. With the addition of Karl Urban’s smartass Johnny Cage in the new movie, however, expectations are at an all-time high for the fandom. Plus, producer Todd Garner is anticipating promising returns that could translate into a long future for the beloved video game franchise on the big screen. As Garner said during a recent interview with FutureBoyWho on YouTube:

"We're hoping this is not the end of the [Mortal Kombat] franchise. It’s not like we’re just doing this...

The key feature of the sequel is the upcoming Mortal Kombat tournament, which will see fighters from Earthrealm and Outworld face off.

Mortal Kombat II sees Simon McQuiod return to direct the sequel after his work on the 2021 film. The script is penned by Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater, with franchise great, Ed Boon, remaining a mainstay in the creative process. Todd Garner is on board as a producer and,...

‘Mortal Kombat 3’ Could Happen Along with Spinoffs, Producer Promises More Fighters, Fatalities, and Arenas
Image
Fans wondering if Mortal Kombat 3 is coming might get good news. Producer Todd Garner said hopefully the third movie will happen, but it all depends on how well Mortal Kombat 2 performs.

The first Mortal Kombat film made about $84 million worldwide, which was pretty good given it launched during the early days of the pandemic.

Still, many fans weren’t happy. They felt the story focused too much on Cole Young, the fight scenes were hard to follow because of the editing, and the movie didn’t even show the famous Mortal Kombat tournament.

Todd Garner has listened to these complaints and used the feedback to shape Mortal Kombat 2. This new movie has been carefully planned and tested to give fans a better experience. Reports say test audiences reacted with excitement similar to big hits like Endgame, and the trailer set a new record.

But Garner is clear...

Is Mortal Kombat 3 on the way? Producer Todd Garner says hopefully , but it all depends on how well Mortal Kombat 2 does.

The first Mortal Kombat movie made a decent $84.4 million worldwide, especially since it came out right as the pandemic started. But fans had complaints. Many didn’t like how the story focused on Cole Young, and some felt the fight scenes were too hidden in the editing. Plus, it didn’t even show the famous Mortal Kombat tournament.

Todd Garner, who produces the movies, listened to all the feedback. Because of that, Mortal Kombat 2 was carefully planned and tested to make it more exciting for fans. According to reports, test audiences reacted like it was a big blockbuster event, and the trailer broke records.

Still, a third movie isn’t guaranteed. Garner told FutureBoyWho2 that they’re hoping this isn’t the last one. He said,...

Mortal Kombat 2 Gets a Flawless Victory With Impressive Red Band Trailer Record
Image
Mortal Kombat fans are preparing for Round 2, as Mortal Kombat II is finally hitting the big screen this fall. A bloody red band trailer was just released for the movie, and it's already set an impressive record, hinting that there may be a strong turnout for the sequel in theaters.

Per Deadline, the new trailer for Mortal Kombat II reached 106.8M views worldwide within 24 hours of its launch, according to WaveMetrix data. This is the best-ever launch for a red band trailer, which is a trailer that includes R-rated content, allowing Mortal Kombat II to show off some of its bloodiest scenes. ‘Mortal Kombat II’ Red Band Trailer Is A Knockout With Record 107M Views
Image
Exclusive: It was clear back in the mid-1990s when New Line made the first adaptation of the Midway videogame, and it’s still evident today: There’s a massive appetite for Mortal Kombat. WaveMetrix data reports that the latest trailer for the Simon McQuoid sequel has notched 106.8M worldwide views in its first 24 hours after being dropped on Thursday, July 17 at 9Am Pst — the best ever for a red-band trailer. The trailer launched in 68 countries and 47 languages. Mortal Kombat II opens on Oct. 24.

The previous McQuoid movie back in 2021 was also a red trailer record-breaker, clearing 116M views in its first week and besting the 4-day traffic of Logan and Deadpool 2.

Great views yield excellent box office. Despite a theatrical day and date release on HBO Max, Mortal Kombat opened to a robust $23.3M over April 23-25, 2021; that was about on par to the unadjusted 1995 opening of the first movie which did $23.2M.

‘Mortal Kombat II’ Official Trailer – Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage Gets Pulled into the Brutal Tournament
Image
Big screen movie sequel Mortal Kombat II is headed our way this Halloween season, and Warner Bros. has unleashed the official trailer this afternoon. Give it a watch below!

Mortal Kombat II marks the arrival of Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage into the rebooted movie franchise, and the character takes center stage in this first official trailer. The new trailer also makes it clear that the sequel will actually depict the titular tournament this time around, and it looks much more like a video game come to life than the first movie did back in 2021.

That being said, I’m still not entirely sold on the approach of this particular big screen universe. A lot of what’s on display here looks much the same as the aforementioned 2021 movie, but Urban’s presence should help elevate the material and at least give us a character worth rooting for. Watch the...

Mortal Kombat II: Karl Urban Unleashes "UnCaged Fury" In First Teaser; Full Trailer Tomorrow
Image
"They pissed him off. They f*cked with his shades. They should have brought more guys..."

The first official poster and teaser for Mortal Kombat II are now online, with the full trailer set to arrive tomorrow.

The poster is just a redesigned take on the classic Mk dragon logo, but the teaser takes the form of a brilliantly cheesy and Ott faux trailer for Johnny Cage's (The Boys and Star Trek alum Karl Urban) latest movie, "Uncaged Fury."

The cocky Hollywood B-movie star turned heroic freedom fighter's debut was set up at the end of the first movie when Cole Young (Lewis Tan) told his fellow kombatants that he knew someone "out in LA" that could aid them in the impending rematch against the forces of Outworld.

"You finally get to see Johnny Cage," Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon previously teased in a recent interview with EW. "His...

Karl Urban's Johnny Cage Gets A New Look In Mortal Kombat 2 Poster Teasing At Fake Movie Uncaged Fury
Image
Fans get another new look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 2, and it’s already setting the internet ablaze. The Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, went to X to share a new movie poster for the fictional in-universe movie titled Uncaged Fury, starring none other than Johnny Cage. The humurous marketing campaign is being praised by fans who are buying into the bit saying things such as "This and then Ninja Mime are the best", and it’s a perfect way to tease Urban’s debut in the iconic role.

Here is a quick look at the X post where Ed Boon tags longtime Mortal Kombat producer Todd Garner while showing off the "old" poster and DVD with a teaser trailer for the Uncaged Fury movie.

Hey @Todd_Garner ... I think I found the poster and an old DVD with the teaser trailer for the Uncaged Fury movie!

“Among the Best I’ve Been Part Of”: ’Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Hypes Up Action Movie ‘Runner’ With New Set Images
Image
Alan Ritchson has traded in stalking the backwater towns of Midwest America for the sun-soaked chaos of Queensland, Australia, as production races toward the finish line on Runner, an upcoming action thriller that pairs the Reacher star with none other than Owen Wilson. Yes, you read that right — it’s Jack Reacher and Hansel, together at last. Two blonde Adonises. The film, currently shooting in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, stars Ritchson as Hank Malone, a highly skilled courier entrusted with a life-or-death mission: deliver a vital organ across hostile terrain to save the life of a critically ill young girl. Naturally, things go very sideways, very fast, as shadowy forces emerge to sabotage the delivery. Think Crank meets Midnight Run with a bit more emotional stakes — and apparently, a lot more blood.

Ritchson took to Instagram today to share a reel of behind-the-scenes photos, including several shots of himself bloodied and bruised,...

Runner is racing toward the finish line — but not without some off-camera drama. Industry Entertainment manager and producer Dan Spilo has been fired for cause from the upcoming indie action thriller, following an incident of alleged inappropriate behavior on set. According to multiple sources confirmed by Deadline, Spilo’s dismissal came after an Hr investigation into his conduct, which reportedly included bullying and yelling at crew members. At the same time, the film’s star Alan Ritchson — best known for playing Jack Reacher on Amazon Prime Video's smash hit Reacher — cut ties with Spilo as his manager. The decision came about a week ago, and sources say Spilo was quickly sent home from the Australian set, which is currently filming in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Dan Spilo Removed As Producer Of Indie Film ‘Runner’ & Dismissed As Manager Of Star Alan Ritchson After Incidents On Australian Set
Image
Industry Entertainment manager and producer Dan Spilo was fired for cause after at least one incident on the Australian set of the indie action thriller Runner. Spilo subsequently was dismissed as manager by the film’s star, Alan Ritchson, and sent home shortly after, multiple sources have confirmed to Deadline.

Those sources cited inappropriate behavior that included bullying and yelling at crew. His dismissal on the film came after an Hr investigation, and the Jack Reacher star parted ways with the manager at the same time. This all happened a week ago.

You might recall Spilo for his stint on Survivor: Island of the Idols, when he became the first contestant on the show to be sent home, for alleged inappropriate behavior. This came after two female contestants said they were made uncomfortable by Spilo’s touchy-feely manner. This played out before the cameras, and Spilo survived that. The torch...

‘Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Is Bloodied Up in Action-Packed Sneak Peek of New Movie ‘Runner’

Alan Ritchson may be off our small screens as a very big man, with Reacher between seasons right now, but soon he'll be on the big screen in a big way in Runner, an action flick alongside Owen Wilson, which is currently underway in the sunshine of Brisbane and the Gold Coastin Australia. The film centers on Ritchson as Hank Malone, a top-tier courier assigned to transport a vital organ to a critically ill young girl. As her life hangs in the balance, the mission quickly unravels when sinister forces emerge, determined to derail the delivery.

Ritchson has taken to Instagram, something which he's great for — particularly to show off what he's eating for breakfast — to post a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, including a look at just how bloody he's going to end up in this film. Looks like a bone-crunching, good time at the movies if you ask us.

In addition to that, the film, which cost $55 million to make, earned $83.6 million at the global box office. Image
Get over here... and check out the first official posters for Mortal Kombat II!

Producer Todd Garner has been sharing teasing behind-the-scenes photos from the sequel for quite a while, but we finally have some official promotional material via a poster spotlighting Karl Urban as "Johnny F*cking Cage," and a banner featuring the movie's updated logo.

The Boys and Star Trek actor doesn't appear to be in his classic video game costume as the beloved Mk character, but that's likely because this is a movie-within-a-movie poster for one of Cage's action flicks, "Uncaged Fury."

The cocky Hollywood star turned heroic freedom fighter's debut was set up at the end of the first movie when Cole Young (Lewis Tan) told his fellow kombatants that he knew someone "out in LA" that could aid them in the impending rematch against the forces of Outworld.

The sequel has also been given a...
