BroadwayHD Will Stream West End 42Nd Street
BroadwayHD, the premier streaming platform for live theater, wants viewers to come and meet those dancing feet, when it debuts 42nd Street on the service on May 15th. A captivating filmed edition of the critically-acclaimed recent West End production of 42nd Street, BroadwayHD filmed the show specifically for the streaming service with the late, great theater producing and directing visionary Mark Bramble collaborating closely with Ross MacGibbon, who directed the filmed version. Bramble co-wrote the book for the original 1981 Broadway production that has been widely credited with helping revitalize the Great White Way in the early 80s. The BroadwayHD production of 42nd Street, which he helped edit for screen, marks one of Bramble's last theater projects before passing away earlier this year.

Fox Moving Forward with P.T. Barnum Musical 'The Greatest Showman on Earth' with Hugh Jackman
A major studio has not produced an original live-action movie musical since 1992's Newsies, starring little kid Christian Bale. I am talking wholly original, here. Moulin Rouge! in 2001 counts in that it was original story, but it only featured one and a half original songs. Therefore, it does not fit the criteria. Well, Fox is taking a chance on The Greatest Showman on Earth centered on P.T. Barnum, legendary co-creator of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. Hugh Jackman, who is now getting pretty good reviews on Broadway in Jez Butterworth's The River (though, the play itself is being met with a bit harsher criticism), is set to play Barnum in the film, which plans to start production in New York next summer. Bill Condon penned the latest draft of the screenplay. Michael Gracey, a former animator who has lined up a few projects to direct but has not started them yet,...

Billy Stritch Connects Industries Through Networking
Grammy-winner Billy Stritch has had the great fortune of not only having a solo career in music, but also receiving the chance to perform on Broadway as Oscar in the revival of “42nd Street.” Stritch discussed his transition from music to theater at the Actor’s Fund Benefit on Thursday. In 2001 you made your Broadway debut in “42nd Street” after having such success in the music industry? Why did you decide to go onstage? Billy Stritch: My friend, Mark Bramble wrote the book for “42nd Street” and was planning this big revival and asked me if I wanted to play a small part of Oscar the rehearsal pianist. It came along at a point in which I was a little tired of traveling all the time, so the timing was just really good.
