He was considered for the roles of Dr. Armstrong, Sir Percy Heseltine and the Fatherly Guard in Lifeforce: Fuerza vital (1985) and Ratcliffe in Remembrance of the Daleks: Part One (1988).

Noted for his role of Sgt Watt in Z Cars and Softly Softly.

Began on the radio in 1946then moved to the stage, screen and television.
