In 1952, on his deathbed, Thelma's boyfriend Roland West confessed to his friend Chester Morris that he was the one who actually murdered Thelma.

In 1935 she had a pet pit bull dog named "Nibs".

She was posthumously awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6262 Hollywood Blvd. on 2/8/60.

During the 1930 short "Another Fine Mess", Thelma had a risqué conversation with Stan Laurel, dressed in drag as Agnes the maid. Laurel began to ad lib some sharp double entendres, and eventually Thelma began laughing uncontrollably. Laurel and director Jimmy Parrot thought her reactions were so funny they left them in the final cut.

As it turned out , some in the police department knew very well who killed her and how as well as why. They kept their silence, but closed the file only when the killer died in 1951. The real story could not be told. A handful of powerful Hollywood insiders with long memories and wide connections maintained a conspiracy of silence and nobody was ever indicted for her death.

An article in the 6/1/29 issue of "Hollywood Filmograph" announced that William S. Hart had just signed to star in a talkie western feature for the Hal Roach Studios, to be directed by Roach and Lambert Hillyer. Thelma was to be the female lead. Outdoor locations were to be filmed in Montana. However, no such film was ever made.
