Good Omens includes a brilliant nod to the iconic star David Hasselhoff in a Season 2 episode, so brief and subtle that one might easily miss out on it on the first watch. However, rewatching the show on the streaming platform made it all very clear.
In the Season 2 episode The Hitchhiker, Michael Sheen’s Aziraphale reveals that he had learned prestidigitation from Professor Hoffman, the author of the 1876 book Modern Magic. He even brings out a signed copy he owns, with a note saying, “To Mr. Fell, a wonderful student. Yours, The Hoff.”
However, the person who is widely recognized as The Hoff is none other than the Knight Rider and Baywatch fame David Hasselhoff, making this a likely tongue-in-cheek Easter egg. Though the series creator never explicitly confirmed the reference, it still serves as a brilliant nod to the legendary actor.

As Black Mirror's new Kickstarter officially launches, the project has been fully funded in just 4 hours. But is this a record for fan support on the site? Announced in June, Black Mirror's new project is a USS Callister adaptation, starting off with a $20,149 goal that was reached in just four hours.
To set a new record for highest funding, Black Mirror will have to top Transformers' jaw-dropping 2025 success.
Coming from writer Neil Gibson and artist Silvano Beltramo, the new comic will adapt season 4, episode 1's USS Callister, starring Jesse Plemons and Cristin Milioti. Running until August 21, the Kickstarter reportedly stands at $38,768, already reaching the first stretch goal of a bonus digital copy for all backers.
The comic will feature cover art from Butcher Billy, colors from Agnese Pozza and lettering Rob Jones. The adaptation promises retro art perfectly suited to the twin realities of the stories, with additional 'loot' including crew badges,...

Good TV makes us think and feel deeply. That’s certainly true of The Sandman, Netflix's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's seminal comic. A complicated, layered story about an eternal being named Dream, there isn't much else out there with a similar vibe.
But there are some shows can may scratch that itch. Whether you want fantasy or sci-fi, there are options out there worth checking out. We’ve got a selection from both genres to make sure you find something that satisfies you.
American Gods Season 3 -- Courtesy of Starz American Gods
Like The Sandman, American Gods is based on work by Gaiman, so it's a great place to start. American Gods tells a story about a battle between Old Gods and New Gods that humanity has unwittingly created, like Media and the Technical Boy.
The first season is the trippiest as we meet all of these deities and learn about their conflict.

The story of the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) will be coming to an end with a Good Omens 90-minute episode, not a third season. The change came following allegations of sexual assault against Neil Gaiman, who wrote the book of the same name with Sir Terry Pratchett. He did not work on the production following those allegations but did contribute to the writing of the series finale. The Prime Video, over its first two seasons, follows Aziraphale and Crowley’s attempt to stop Armageddon after the antichrist’s birth, then hiding an amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from Heaven and Hell. The movie has been filmed, but when will it be released? Below, we’re gathering everything we know about the end of Good Omens. When will the Good Omens Season 3 movie premiere? In December 2023, it was announced that the series would be ending with a third season.

Good Omens started life as a 1990 novel about an angle and a demon who team up to prevent the apocalypse, co-written by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. In 2019, Gaiman turned the book into a TV show, with Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley. A second season took the story beyond the pages of the original book, and a third was set to finish the story.
Things got complicated when Gaiman was accused of sexual impropriety by multiple women, allegations he has denied. Gaiman stepped back from the third season of the show, which was reimagined as a feature-length final episode rather than a full season of TV. Amazon has yet to set a release date for its debut on Prime Video. Still, we assumed we were going to get it sooner or later.

For a while, it looked like Good Omens fans were going to get a full third season to round out the fantasy drama based on the characters created by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Then it became a one-shot feature-length episode following the allegations of assault leveled at Gaiman by several women. Now, star Michael Sheen has cast doubt on whether fans will even get to see that conclusion to the series in a new interview with The Times.
Good Omens was a novel that fell into the category of being unfilmable for a very long time, but when it finally did come to life, with Sheen partnering with David Tennant to lead the series, fans instantly made it a hit. Despite the death of Pratchett meaning there was no chance of a follow-up novel, he and Gaiman discussed where a sequel could go and therefore Season 2 came into being.

When Good Omens first debuted on Amazon Prime, fans hailed it as the perfect adaption of the beloved book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Then, just before the third season, serious allegations came out about Gaiman.
The allegations came as a shock to Gaiman's fan base. Good Omens became caught in the crossfire. A third season had been planned - but it was soon announced that instead of a full season, the story would be reduced to a feature-length special.
In a recent interview withThe Times(via Radio Times) Michael Sheen spoke for both himself and co-star David Tennant when talking about the turmoil the production was in. "I really don’t know what’s going to happen with it," he said. The ineffable end might stay ineffable. Good Omens star Michael Sheen has cast serious doubt over whether the series’ just-completed finale will ever actually be released, even though production on the final episode has officially wrapped. Originally renewed for a full third season, the hit Prime Video fantasy series starring Sheen as Aziraphale and David Tennant as Crowley was reworked into a single 90-minute special. The pivot to the special came in the wake of sexual assault allegations leveled at series co-creator and executive producer Neil Gaiman, who has denied all claims of non-consensual conduct.
Gaiman was involved in writing the finale but did not participate in production, and his company, Blank Corporation, was not involved either. In a new interview with The Times, Sheen revealed just how uncertain things still are.

Fantasy author Joe Abercrombie is everywhere right now thanks to the release of his buzzy new book The Devils. Released in mid-May, The Devils debuted at #5 on the New York Times bestseller list and #1 on the Sunday Times bestseller list, both career highs for Abercrombie. It's gained major media attention thanks to the news that none other than James Cameron has optioned it for a film adaptation, which he will co-write with Abercrombie himself. And of course, Abercrombie was also out touring the UK and United States, promoting the book by chatting with other authors like George R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, and more.

Netflix has released a brand-new look at the second and final season of The Sandman, while the series showrunner has rejected the belief that recent allegations of inappropriate behavior by creator Neil Gaiman caused the cancelation of the series. Two new images shared by Entertainment Weekly have revealed a look at former Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson’s Puck and Barry Sloane’s Destruction, giving fans something else to think about other than the behind-the-scenes drama that some are adamant derailed the show from continuing into a third season.
Showrunner Allan Heinberg addressed the allegations against Gaiman as having “unfortunate timing” but refuted that it led to the cancelation of more seasons. He explained that due to the series building a story around Dream (Tom Sturridge) it was decided early on that the show would not run for long. He said:

Good Omens is based on the beloved book written by the late Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. When the book was finally adapted for television, Gaiman became the showrunner, helping lead the project to success.
Following the sexual assault and abuse allegations against Gaiman in September 2024, it was announced that he would be leaving the production and that Good Omens Season 3 would be reduced to a single 90-minute installment. During an appearance on The Assembly, series star David Tennant addressed the allegations and what it means for the show's future. "We’re doing Good Omens again," he said via The Independent. "We're going back to do the final. There's been a slight rejig with the personnel. But we still get to tell that story - I think it would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger. So I’m glad that’s been worked out."

The first season of Good Omens adapted the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. The third and final season was set to wrap things up, but then Gaiman was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women (he has denied the allegations) and exited the show. After Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite" took home four Academy Awards in 2020, becoming the first non-English-language film to win Best Picture and the first South Korean film to receive Academy Award recognition in the process, film fans everywhere were on pins and needles wondering what was next for Director Bong. The answer came in 2022 when it was announced he was adapting the then-yet-to-be-published novel "Mickey 7," a sci-fi black comedy about a man named Mickey Barnes who enlists to become an "expendable," or a person who dies again, and again, and again, in the line of work — with a new human printed copy created each day with his memories intact.
The result is what I firmly believe is Director Bong's best English-language film yet, and a scathing, in-your-face indictment of the way egotistical politicians and capitalism will be the death of us all. "Mickey 17" is as subtle as a sledgehammer,...

The second season of Good Omens ended with the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) returning to heaven as the new supreme archangel charged with laying the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, the demon Crowley (David Tennant) remained on Earth, and just after the two of them had expressed their feelings for each. The breakup was hard for fans to watch.

With the ongoing allegations and lawsuit against disgraced author Neil Gaiman, many upcoming adaptations of his works have been shelved by their respective studios. One such series was Dead Boy Detectives, a spin-off from Netflix's The Sandman universe, which premiered last year. The series was a hit for the streamer, holding a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But, it was one of the first shows to be axed when Gaiman was first accused of sexual misconduct and assault in early August, and Dead Boy Detectives Season 2 (among other adaptations) was canceled the same month.
Fans of the series mourned the loss, desperate to see Charles Rowland and Edwin Payne return to our screens for another season. Thankfully, that wish has been granted, just not in the way we might have hoped. The Dead Boy Detectives will return, making their final appearance in Season 2 of The Sandman — which will be the flagship series' last.

The Wheel of Time is one of the most beloved fantasy sagas of all time. Over the course of 14 books, author Robert Jordan's tale of a young farm boy and his friends fighting the forces of darkness enthralled readers, selling more than 100 million copies around the globe. But the tale of how these books were made is almost as epic as the story of Rand al'Thor itself. In 2007, Jordan passed away from a rare blood disease; at the time he had only written 11 mainline Wheel of Time books and a prequel, leaving the future of the series very much in doubt.
Enter Brandon Sanderson, the hyper-prolific author behind such series as Mistborn, The Stormlight Archive, Skyward, and more. Sanderson was hand-picked by Robert Jordan's widow and editor Harriet McDougal to finish the series. Before his death, Jordan asked McDougal to find someone to finish his books, which Sanderson says she considered Jordan's "dying request.

A stage production of Neil Gaiman's 2002 children's novel Coraline has been canceled, Variety reports. A statement from the production partners behind the scrapped musical cited the recent allegations of sexual misconduct brought against the author. Coraline — A Musical was originally scheduled to run at the Leeds Playhouse in England from April to May of this year before embarking on a tour through Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Manchester. In the joint statement from Leeds Playhouse, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Birmingham Rep, and Home Manchester, the organizations stated, "We have decided our production of Coraline – A Musical will not proceed."

A UK stage version of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline has been canceled following allegations of sexual misconduct against the Good Omens author.
The musical production was preparing to embark on a UK tour that would take in the Leeds Playhouse, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Birmingham Rep, and Home in Manchester.
In a statement, organizers said they would not continue with the adaptation, citing the claims against Gaiman from a total of nine women. Gaiman has denied sexual misconduct.

The allegations against Gaiman include nonconsensual Bdsm. The claims were first published in a Tortoise podcast, titled Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman. New York magazine carried further allegations earlier this month.

From plots of political treachery and imitate romances to vast multiverses and epic intercontinental warfare, the fantasy genre encompasses much of the stories that make life so rich. Many of these tales come from the literary world, bled from the ink of such legendary writers as J.R.R. Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, H.P. Lovecraft, as well as those who follow in their footsteps, like Andrzej Sapkowski, Terry Pratchett, and George R.R. Martin.
Whether adapting the work of these prolific authors or creating a world that's entirely new, the fantasy genre demands one thing: grand narrative scale. Perhaps this is why such stories have flourished through the medium of television in recent years, taking viewers to distant lands, ancient times, and far away worlds we could once only dream of through the pages of a book.

Last year, fantasy author Neil Gaiman was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. Since then, more details about the cases have come out. Although Gaiman has denied any wrongdoing, it's stomach-turning stuff, and we've seen studios either cancel or cut back on planned adaptations of his work. Netflix canceled Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on a story that originally appeared in Gaiman's The Sandman comic series. Good Omens, based on the 1990 book Gaiman wrote with Terry Pratchett, will finish with one final, 90-minute episode instead of a whole third season as planned. Disney has paused an adaptation of Gaiman's novel The Graveyard Book.
And now, Dark Horse Comics has announced that they have dropped Neil Gaiman, and that a comic book adaptation of Gaiman's 2005 novel Anansi Boys has been canceled. "Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works," the company wrote in a statement.

Dark Horse Comics has dropped Neil Gaiman, cancelling his Anansi Boys comic series, in the wake of sexual assault allegations brought against the author.
The publisher posted to X Friday night writing, “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works. Confirming that the ‘Anansi Boys’ comic series and collected volume have been canceled.”
U.K.-based Tortoise Media spotlighted accounts from four women — two who came forward in early July 2024 and two more who told their stories at the end of the month — about their encounters with the Coraline and Sandman creator.
The comic books are the latest projects in Gaiman’s creative catalogue that have paused or been canceled in light of the news, which Gaiman addressed on his personal blog, denying the allegations.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld remains one of the most beloved and well-written fantasy series. In the decade since Sir Terry's passing, no author has been able to step up into the role of darling fantasy satirist – and no one should. The convoluted reading order of the Discworld novels belies the straightforward way that the books speak both to readers' hearts and minds. One key reason why Discworld is so universally adored among fantasy fans is that the characters Terry Pratchett created all explode off the pages larger than life.
Since Discworld is an innately satirical series, its characters all embody the best and the worst of people, with massive flaws and indomitable virtues that combine in such a way that they serve as mirrors of our own inner conflict. While this has also contributed to why many Discworld adaptations struggle to find the right tone, it also means that...

Following a bombshell Vulture cover story detailing sexual abuse allegations by eight women, Neil Gaiman has issued a statement maintaining his innocence. Gaiman, an acclaimed author who has enjoyed success across a variety of mediums, was first publicly accused of sexual abuse allegations last summer through the Tortoise Media series, The Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman. During the six-episode podcast, five women accused The Sandman author of sexual assault (Gaiman quickly denied those allegations). On Monday, more women came forward via a damning story, There Is No Safe Word, published by New York Magazine's Vulture.
Gaiman addressed the comments made in Vulture's report in a post titled "Breaking the Silence," published on his website. He admits he is "far from a perfect person" and acknowledges involvement with the women interviewed but denies ever engaging "in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone."

Sir Terry Pratchett was a veritable British national treasure. For decades, he charmed readers with his blisteringly smart and funny books, especially his satirical Discworld fantasy series. All 41 of its novels brim with wit and unforgettable characters, placing it among the best fantasy sagas of all time. While not as iconic, Pratchett's non-Discworld novels, like Nation and Johnny and the Dead, are also unique and intriguing, showing off his wide-ranging abilities.

An important detail of this 22-year-old book in the Discworld series by Sir Terry Pratchett makes it a great story to use for a potential adaptation. Many of the books within the series showcase a wonderful combination of love for the fantasy genre and a strong ability to satirize it, allowing the best Discworld books to be enjoyable to a wide audience and memorable due to its unique worldbuilding. However, those qualities and the structure of the series make choosing a story to adapt within Discworld difficult, as the several attempts at doing so over the years have shown.
While a Discworld TV show or movie would introduce new audiences to Practhett's work, finding the proper place to begin is a trying task. Discworld's books all have plots focusing on different groups, but some of those plots end up intersecting with others, making an adaptation of just one section...

Orcs have long been seen as one-note villains in a lot of fantasy media, but Dungeons & Dragons’ latest revision is attempting to change this long-standing trope. As any fantasy fan knows, the genre can suffer from a (somewhat ironic) lack of creativity at times. Even today, many fantasy creators cling tightly to genre conventions established by the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien, which makes any changes, like DnD’s new orcs, feel threatening or unprecedented to some.
That said, DnD is far from the first fantasy property to challenge genre conventions surrounding a traditionally villainous race. Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel, Snuff, for instance, challenges readers to reconsider the mistreatment of goblins. With the growing popularity of Dungeons & Dragons in the last decade, it’s understandable that Wizards of the Coast would want to modernize some of the game’s elements, like the way orcs are depicted.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld is one of the best fantasy book series around, and there is one detail, in particular, that sets it apart. Beginning in 1983 with The Colour of Magic, Discworld introduced Pratchett's unique world. Discworld is flat and balanced on the backs of four elephants, who stand on a giant turtle. Pratchett's creativity in the series is matched only by his sense of humor, which ridicules everything from organized religion to consumerism across its 41 astute outings. But it is not social commentary that makes Discworld the most refreshing fantasy series of this size.
Pratchett's distinctive brand of satire probably appeals to older audiences more than most, and is a major selling point of Discworld. All the best Discworld books share one thing in common - they are just as funny as they are moving, with a heart of gold. But of all the many unique things about Discworld,...

Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels are some of the most hilarious fantasy books ever written, but that hilarity also goes hand-in-hand with how well Pratchett understood people in all their boons, flaws, joys, and mistakes. Discworld has a complicated reading order, with 41 total novels that have threads following several of the world's focal characters, such as Death, or Sam Vimes, the grizzled head of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.
With Discworld's TV adaptations often failing to do justice to their sources, the books themselves remain the best way to appreciate Pratchett's unique blend of social commentary, with a little bit of philosophy, a little bit of theology, and a heaping helping of satire. What follows are ten quotes and passages from ten separate Discworld books – not necessarily the best Discworld novels, but ten moments that combine the profound and the absurd in the way only Terry Pratchett could.

There may not be a better time for a proper adaptation of Discworld. After all, fantasy television just keeps getting more popular, and with increasingly massive budgets going into these shows, we've reached a point of spectacle that would have been unthinkable just 30 years ago when Xena: Warrior Princess was as good as genre TV could ever hope to be. Yet with that increase in budget and quality of special effects, there has come a commensurate change in the tone of these shows as they become more and more grim.
Despite Discworld's complicated reading order, it could be the ideal choice for a shift in direction when it comes to the fantasy genre. The books' focus on themes of truth, justice, freedom, and love, have the potential to help make Disworld into a welcome entry into yet another fun, fantasy world.

While the vampire Selene is often Underworlds main protagonist, Michael Sheens Lucian is a compelling and formidable character who is severely underrated. In the dark urban fantasy franchise, which pits vampires against werewolves, Sheen appeared in Underworld (2003) and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009). Despite their thrilling high-octane fight sequences and impressive special effects, neither movie was a hit with critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, Underworld holds a score of 31%, with Rise of the Lycans at 30%. Even so, Sheen has never been accused of phoning in a performance, and his portrayal of Lucian is no exception.

Good Omens season 3 has been given the green light by Amazon Prime Video, but the final season is going to be very different. Good Omens is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and follows the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant), who've developed a unique relationship over the centuries they've spent on Earth. Instead of following their ordained mission, the duo puts their differences aside to set out to stop the end of the world.
Good Omens season 1 was based on the novel, and it was speculated that season 2 was based on a sequel that was never published. However, Gaiman has since said that the planned sequel was not the second season, and it instead would be used for Good Omens season 3. It's unclear where these plans currently stand, and the sexual assault allegations against Gaiman have caused the scribe to step away from the project.

Across 41 novels, British writer Terry Pratchett released the critically acclaimed Discworld books, but they weren't all created equal. Beginning in 1983, the genre-spanning set of books started with the Rincewind series, launched by The Colour of Magic. If reading the Discworld books in chronological or publication order, readers should begin with this magical high fantasy satire. Although The Colour of Magic may be the first Discworld book, it isn't necessarily the best. Pratchett's Discworld just got better and better, eventually containing many individual subseries, each with a slightly different approach.
The sheer scope of the Discworld releases is a huge part of what makes them some of the best fantasy books around. While The Colour of Magic and the following Rincewind books erred on the side of high fantasy, many other subseries exploited other literary genres. However, through it all, Pratchett maintained one of the most original fantasy worlds ever to be created.

A couple weeks back, fans of the Prime Video show Good Omens — about an unlikely friendship between the angle Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) — got some bad news: no longer would the show's third and final season be...well, a season of TV. Instead, it will be one 90-minute episode that will wrap up all the stories the second season left dangling, most notably what will become of Aziraphale and Crowley now that they've parted ways, with Aziraphale returning to heaven to help plan the Second Coming and Crowley getting as far away from all that mess as he possibly can.
Fans have grown very attached to Aziraphale and Crowley, and many were upset with the news. The season is being cut down almost certainly because of a series of sexual assault allegations made against Neil Gaiman, who not only co-wrote the original Good Omens book...

There have been all kinds of Discworld adaptations over the years, from the animated movies by Cosgrove Hall in the 1990s to the various live-action TV movies and series, yet none of them have been amazing successes. The most recent attempt, the BBC's controversial adaptation of the Night Watch novels, was critically panned for taking too many arbitrary liberties with the setting. Other adaptations have had their own high points and flaws.
There is one thread that explains why none of these adaptations have achieved any lasting success: none of them have quite landed on the tone that makes the original novels so timelessly endearing, even if the Discworld reading order is a little complicated. Emulating Terry Pratchett's unique mix of satire, slapstick, and parable requires an emotional intelligence that even the best adaptations have lacked.

Andrzej Sapkowski's iconic book series, The Witcher, has always been a classic for fantasy readers but has recently become a crossover hit thanks to the Netflix series of the same name. The story follows Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher or monster hunter who has incredible strength and skill that makes it possible for him to defeat the evil creatures that plague the land. However, he also imbues much of his Polish heritage and Eastern European influence into the books, which sets them apart.

Good Omens is easily one of the best fantasy TV series out there, and there are a few things that season 3 can do to keep it that way. Based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens season 1 proved a riveting adaptation. Good Omens season 2 did a great job expanding on the story using Gaiman's original material. And as the authors were working on a sequel before Pratchett passed away in 2015, the unfinished novel will inform season 3. This direction is promising, as there are a few notes the next outing must hit to be successful.
