Lionsgate has named Erin Westerman president of its Motion Picture Group, TheWrap has learned. Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair, shared the news Thursday.

In her role, Westerman will oversee all aspects of the development and production of Lionsgate’s slate of theatrical film releases. She will report to Fogelson.

“Erin’s profound impact on our studio cannot be overstated,” Fogelson said in a statement to TheWrap. “She has earned the respect of her peers and talent through hard work, incredible story sense, and great choices, whether related to cast or the direction of some of our most important IP. However, it is her fierce intelligence, passion for theatrical moviegoing, and ease of manner that have made Lionsgate an attractive home for filmmakers who continue to do their most creative work here. Erin Westerman has been formally named president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, replacing Nathan Kahane after he recently announced plans to step down by the end of the year.

Kahane’s pending move back to film producing opened the way for Westerman, most recently president of production and development, to take over all studio production under Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson.

Kahane has been Motion Picture Group president since May 2018, when Lionsgate acquired Good Universe, the production company he founded with Joe Drake. Drake stepped down from Lionsgate in early 2024 to pave the way for Fogelson, which in a way foreshadowed Kahane’s eventual exit.

Westerman, a former Good Universe and Disney exec, joined Lionsgate in 2017 as executive vp production, overseeing the studio’s creative film production team, before moving up the ranks. In her new role, she will oversee all development and production of Lionsgate’s theatrical film release slate.

Exclusive: Marisha Wallace, the two-time Olivier Award nominee about to take over the role of Sally Bowles in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, has signed with Amplified for US representation.

Wallace, who is American with British citizenship, most recently was seen starring as Sally in the West End production of director Rebecca Frecknall’s production of Cabaret, and will be reprising the role at Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre beginning July 22. She and Billy Porter will play Sally and the Emcee for the production’s final 13 weeks.

Wallace starred as Miss Adelaide in the hit 2024 West End revival of Guys and Dolls, earning an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Cabaret will end its New York run Oct. 19 after about 14 months on Broadway.

The closing notice comes after the production undertook a large-scale remodeling of the August Wilson Theatre and has mounted a costly, immersive production, with reports of the show being capitalized for up to $24 million. With the early closing notice, and bumpy grosses throughout its run, the show will likely exit Broadway without recouping.

In the final 13 weeks of the run, Billy Porter will take over as the Emcee and Marisha Wallace will take over as Sally Bowles starting July 22. The two reprise the roles they played in the production in London’s West End.

The musical opened on Broadway in April 2024, starring Gayle Rankin and Eddie Redmayne, who first played the role in the West End. Since then, the production has brought in several big-name replacements, including Adam Lambert and Auli’i Cravalho and Orville Peck and Eva Noblezada,...

Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club will close on Sunday, October 19, producers announced today, ending a 14-month run that was spotty at the box office and almost certainly will leave investors short from recouping the revival’s estimated $23 million-plus costs.

Also today, producers announced that Billy Porter and Marisha Wallace will be the show’s final Emcee and Sally Bowles, with the two actors taking over the roles on Tuesday, July 22.

Producers have not revealed or confirmed the show’s capitalization amount or whether the show has recouped or is expected to recoup.

New cast additions to the next The Hunger Games movie have just been unveiled. Lionsgate has revealed that eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close and Pose star Billy Porter have joined the star-studded ensemble of Sunrise on the Reaping.

As with previous casting announcements, Lionsgate revealed the news on the official Hunger GamesX account with some stylish reveal videos. Close has been tapped to play Drusilla Sickle, a Capitol chaperone for the District 12 tributes during the 50th Hunger Games. She is married to Magno Stift, the District 12 tributes' stylist for the 50th Hunger Games, who Porter will be playing in the prequel movie.
