Donald Trump
Resurfaced footage of the 1994 King Charles assassination attempt displays similarities with President Donald Trump’s response to the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania.

When shots were fired at Trump’s republican rally on July 13th last year, the then-former president hit the ground, and his Secret Service agents swarmed over to the stage to protect him.

Thomas Matthew Crooks Tried To Kill President Trump

With the help of his entourage, he stood up and triumphantly pumped his fist in the air. He had been shot in the ear by twenty-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

He fired at Trump from the roof of a nearby building. While he missed the mark he aimed for, he managed to kill an audience member. He also seriously injured two other people. The Secret Service agents killed the gunman.

King Charles knows how Trump must have felt. However, when the former Prince of Wales was shot at,...

Bob McMullan, a former Labor minister in the Paul Keating Government, is replacing Alaric McAusland as Ausfilm.s chair despite not being a member of Ausfilm and being based in London.

Hawke: TV.com's review
There's just something about Labor prime ministers and dramatisations of their lives.

We've had The Dismissal detailing the dramatic final days of the Whitlam Government before the controversial sacking by the governor-general, and there was the musical extravaganza on the life and times of our Opera-loving former Pm Paul Keating, titled Keating!

Not surprisingly, we now have the story of his political nemesis and predecessor, Bob Hawke, which aired on Ten last night.

Hawke details the former Labor Prime Minister's rise to power in the trade union movement, to joining the Labor Party just three years before winning the...  More >>...

Hawke

Nearly thirty years ago George Miller and Phil Noyce co-wrote and partly directed the acclaimed mini-series "The Dismissal", a drama about the most infamous day in Australian politics when left-wing Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam was forced out of power. Since then there's been little in the way of films or TV about Australian politics, though that changes shortly with the TV movie "Hawke".

The biopic runs from 1977-1991 covering the life and career of Bob Hawke (Richard Roxburgh) from his boozy, womanising days as the trade unions president, his nine years of service as Prime Minister, his extramarital affair with his biographer Blanche d'Alpuget, and the leadership challenge that saw treasurer Paul Keating take over as Pm.

The TV movie will first be broadcast on Channel Ten in Australia on July 18th and a trailer for it was recently released which can be watched below:
