- Two solicitors open shop--literally!--in a low-income quarter of Hamburg. Assisted by a secretary with migration background and a cleaning-woman-turned-private-investigator, they take care of people who need help in court but can't afford it. Quite often, their cases can be resolved out of court thanks to the wit and common sense of this team.
- The shorter the better. That's what Andrea thinks when she gives her mother Helga a trip to Verona for her 75th birthday. A champagne reception, a visit to the opera and a nightcap - all precisely timed in 24 hours. Andrea fears that things won't go well between mother and daughter any longer. Unfortunately, the super-compact short vacation is under an unfavorable star: First, Andrea's brother Martin cancels at the last second, then all return flights are canceled due to a cloud of ash and, appropriately, the bus and train drivers across the country go on strike. Now what Andrea really wanted to avoid happens: she has to spend time all alone with her mother. However, not in a relaxed holiday environment, but on an adventurous return journey to Germany. Because something went wrong at work and Andrea is urgently expected in Hamburg to save a major order. On the way, the old mechanisms in the difficult relationship take hold: no matter what Helga does to help her daughter, Andrea dislikes it. While the elderly woman, who quickly "borrows" a car, is getting cooler and cooler, Andrea's nerves are on edge. With the Carabinieri on their heels, we head towards the Brenner Pass.
- Im beschaulichen Klein-Freudenstadt geschieht ein weiterer Mord. Und wieder ist Angela Merkel (Katharina Thalbach) mittendrin. Der Friedhofsgärtner steckt kopfüber in der Erde, nur die Beine ragen aus einem Grab heraus... Nach dem Fund der Leiche weiß Angela, dass sie sich nicht auf die örtliche Polizei verlassen kann und stürzt sich zusammen mit ihrem Personenschützer Mike (Tim Kalkhof), ihrem Ehemann Achim (Thorsten Merten) und natürlich dem Merkelschen Mops "Helmut" in die Ermittlungen. Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass die Mordverdächtigen zu zwei verfeindeten Bestatter-Familien gehören, die ein dunkles Geheimnis schützen möchten. Insbesondere der charmante Kurt Kunkel (Sven Martinek) fasziniert Angela, sieht er doch wie ein Filmstar aus. Ehemann Achim wird zunehmend nervös und Angela hat nicht nur ein mörderisches Rätsel zu lösen, sondern auch privat ein kniffliges Problem.
- Karen is willing to give her life to free her beloved husband, Georg, from his financial worries. Only with the million he hopes to receive from the insurance company could he pay off his heavy debts to brutal debt collectors. Georg, who knows nothing of Karen's selfless intentions, has also come up with this idea - but under different circumstances: He has secretly hired a hitman. Karen learns the hard way who she had trusted so blindly: a pathetic liar who could hardly wait to replace her with a much younger lover. Now Karen's fighting spirit awakens, and she has a professional at her side for her plan: the ice-cold Bruno. The murderous game begins again.
- Frank Stolpe, der seit Jahren ein Doppelleben als Vater zweier Familien geführt hat, wird nach einem missglückten Banküberfall des versuchten schweren Raubes angeklagt. Er beteuert, nur aus Not und Verwirrung gehandelt zu haben, und gelobt vor Gericht Besserung. Als er mit Contis Hilfe tatsächlich auf Bewährung freikommt, kann die ehrgeizige Staatsanwältin Henry Mahn das Urteil kaum fassen. Sie beginnt zu recherchieren und stößt auf einen ungelösten Fall - einen bewaffneten Raubüberfall auf ein Wettbüro -, der Parallelen zu Stolpes Vorgehen beim Banküberfall aufweist. Und als die Tatwaffe in Stolpes Wohnung gefunden wird, fragt sich auch Conti, ob sie ihrem Mandanten noch trauen kann, und stellt ihn zur Rede. Doch Frank Stolpe behauptet steif und fest, nichts mit dem Überfall zu tun zu haben, und gibt Conti einen Hinweis, der sie zu seinem Bruder führt, einem drogenabhängigen Künstler. Stimmt Stolpes Behauptung? Welchem der beiden Brüder kann Conti glauben? Conti muss Stolpes Leben entwirren, doch statt auf Lösungen stößt sie auf weitere Rätsel. Wer ist Stolpe wirklich? Und welche Rolle spielt seine Frau in dem Ganzen? Conti will nicht moralisieren, sondern verstehen. Und Henry Mahn sinnt auf Gerechtigkeit.
