The World Collide event just ended. While watching it, I kept thinking, "Yes! This is it! This is wrestling!"-because truly, this is wrestling. That artificial feeling that has recently emerged in wrestling promotions-especially in WWE due to their global expansion through advertising-was completely absent in this show.
Even though I criticized WWE just moments ago, credit where it's due: by collaborating with other promotions like TNA and AAA, WWE managed to sign a great partnership deal, and this show is the fruit of that. The show was pure wrestling. I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw a show at this level, with such amazing spots and matches that were this consistently enjoyable.
The Fatal 4-Way match was absolutely incredible. I can't recall the last time I saw a match that good. Huge thanks to Ethan Page, Je'Von Evans, Fenix, and Laredo Kid-it's a match worth rewatching.
The Main Event featured some unbelievable spots. Gable and Vikingo felt like true soulmates in the ring, which was a massive positive. Lola Vice and Stephanie Vaquer also completely shined in their match.
Although those matches were the ones that stood out the most in my memory, the entire event had so many strengths: the interviews were balanced and not overdone, the opening was well-placed, the inclusion of a match that connects to Money in the Bank (Dominik vs Octagon Jr for the IC Title), and even though the matches had simple storylines, they didn't feel artificial at all. The pacing and execution of the matches were top-notch.
The only downside was that the storylines were somewhat underdeveloped-but that was clearly due to time constraints.
I truly hope Collide PPVs become more frequent, because this one was ten times better than many other pay-per-views.
