The series take you on a 7 part trip through the stages of the human body - from the start to the end of life. You may feel as if you're bombarded by information, but keeping up is not a problem, even for younger audiences, as the flow is steady once you get used to it. There are a lot of "fun facts" which help to keep you entertained.

One thing that really strikes out is the footage, which is perfectly edited. You really get to see the body's functions in action. All in all this is one of the most interesting and fun documentaries about our bodies out there. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone and everyone!

An enchanting fairytale of a poor young girl that gets an offer from the goddess Manshen, an offer the girl can't refuse - to have the greatest riches in the world, but with it a curse; she can not fall in love. The story focuses on three people - the 'perfect' girl, a well known and feared General, who wants her to fall in love with him, and a slave who wants to explore his past. Their stories intertwine and draw you into this fair world. I, being the wuxia freak I am, absolutely loved this movie... It looks stunning, both the scenery and costumes, there is a lot of CGI, but it is done very well and doesn't make it look fake, it only helps you get sucked into this magical world from which you don't want to return. The music also elevates the feeling. The acting is excellent, the lovely Cecilia Cheung is cute and charming, and the leading males (the lustful general played by Hiroyuki Sanada and the sincere slave Kunlun played by Dong-Kun Jang) are convincing and believable. There are fights, quite spectacular might I add (the canyon scenes are great!), but don't watch this movie expecting some extreme Kung Fu flick! It is a fairytale first and foremost, the fights have meaning, they're not there just for entertainment value. The story isn't realistic- what bothers me a lot is the fact, that people actually complain it is not believable, yet I bet that most of these same people thought The Matrix (1999) was a superb film.

The Promise is an awesome movie, it is not the best I have seen of the genre, but it certainly does the job very well. If you like fairy tales, great scenery, a bit of romance (don't cringe, it's not a Hollywood flick) and a few well made fights, you will definitely not be disappointed. I recommend this movie to anyone who has at least a little bit of his/her inner child left in him/her-self.

I can't understand how can great movies have such low ratings. I understand that everyone's opinion is their own, but a movie like this rated at 5.1? I feel sorry for anyone who can't see the beauty of this kind of films.

A script by Luc Besson containing scenes with broken bones, necks and wrecked cars - nothing new here. Jet Li as a highly skilled and trained fighter who's powerful blows make holes in walls - nothing new here. But what really surprised me about the movie was the story itself. It's not something groundbreaking, mind you, but I never expected that this movie would get to me as much as it did. The plot is nothing too special - kidnapped as a little boy, Danny "the dog" is trained and, quite literally, owned by a vicious debt collector who uses him for threatening and killing people. But, the story isn't as simple as it might seem at first glance. When Danny get's a chance for a new life, the movie turns around 360°. I didn't expect much more than a few spectacular fights, but what I got was way more. I'm glad that Jet Li was given a chance to prove that he has talent, not just for kicking ass, but also for acting. I feel people severely underestimate Asian actors and movies, I've fallen in love with Asian cinema a few years ago and keep being impressed. Anyways, Jet Li does a wonderful job, he doesen't have much dialog (which is a plus, no offense intended) which enabled him to use his acting without the 'language' obstacle. Bob Hoskins plays a man I'd love to sic my dog on so well, that you really hate him at the end. I mean really hate. Morgan Freeman was perfect for his 'mentor' role, as was the cute-in-an-odd-way Kerry Condon (which I've never seen before). The expected fights are there, which are very painful and real, but the movie focuses on Danny's new life, his exploration of things we take for granted and on the exploration of his troubling past, way more than we're used to. I feel Louis Leterrier did a commendable job and I really hope that other audiences (the people that don't like or watch Asian films) will see that there is more to Jet Li than meets the eye.
