Mel Gibson is one of the most experienced actors, producers, and directors, regardless of what has happened in his private life. He is a very charismatic old guy.
This film reveals a lot about the development of the characters. You get a clear picture of what these people are like. And that takes time. Almost half of the film shows the father and his daughter living alone in the forest, and you learn what kind of people they are. Good people. And they know how to survive, they know how to deal with problems. So you start to worry more about the villains of the film than about these two and how they will cope with the problems ahead.
The second half is pretty brutal and bloody. I loved this movie. I loved watching these two. I don't want to say any more. I don't want to spoil the story.
Just watch the movie if you want to see how to deal with a brutal crime. You won't be disappointed.

First, I would like to say that this film concerns everyone.
Crimes against human rights concern everyone.
What makes Nuremberg so incredibly captivating is the story based on true events, foremost the most terrifying murders of human beings, in numbers, 6 million human beings have been murdered in an unimaginable, gruesome way. That alone shows how important this movie is, and it shows the people who were responsible for the holocaust, the people who remained. Hitler and Goebbels were the leaders of that crime, but they committed suicide as soon as it was clear the war was lost. Nuremberg is about the remaining Nazi figures, that have to take responsibility for the committed war crimes. Foremost the leading Nazi figures that remained. But everyone who was involved in committing these crimes had to take responsible. Not only the leaders. Everyone who was involved. The defending strategy, that these people just followed orders is worthless. The following generations all over the world should learn from that. Learn, that It doesn't matter, if someone just followed orders, to kill innocent human beings. It is a crime if someone followed such illegal orders.
What also stand out are the perfectly chosen actors. Russell Crowe is, without exaggeration, perhaps the best actor of our time. No one could portray Göring better than Crowe. A charismatic, highly intelligent, manipulative, charming narcissist who considered himself infallible. And he almost succeeded in doing so in the unique, critical Nuremberg Tribunal.
The tension is almost unbearable. Also, when it was decided that the execution would take place at midnight, after the verdict, without informing the condemned. The following scenes felt like a horror movie. Only this was not fiction; it actually happened.
In addition to Russell Crowe, this film also made me a fan of Rami Malek. This role could not have been portrayed better. The same goes for Michael Shannon. I have never seen a better, more perfect actor in a role that was responsible for condemning those responsible for one of the worst war crimes of all time. Shannon did not come across as arrogant, but rather concerned, thoughtful, reflective, and wise, fully aware of his enormous responsibility while the whole world watched and listened. He made it clear why the Allies should not simply execute the leading Nazi figures. That would have made them martyrs. So said Jackson, the prosecutor. He made it clear that the Germans had already been humiliated twice and that each time it made them stronger as soon as a beacon of hope like Hitler ignited their anger. And who knows if the Allies could withstand the Germans a third time, strengthened by renewed humiliation. For this reason, a proper court should decide whether the Nazi leaders were guilty or not, so as not to turn the executed nazi leaders into martyrs.
What an overwhelming, suspenseful plot, based on the real events after World War II, with the best and most authentic cast of any film on this subject I have ever seen.
