This film was simply incredibly laborious and boring. The lead characters partner was utterly spineless and not engaging or at all likeable. The plot was almost non existent and the dialogue was just painful. It was 100 minutes of waiting for something to happen...and nothing significant ever did. The ending was predictable and almost an insult to your intelligence and character development just never got going. If you have some ironing to do and want to put something pointless on in the background this might be a goer, otherwise steer well clear. It's one of the slowest, most pointless and boring films I've ever seen. Just abysmal!
I really liked what this film tried to do, but it missed the mark on too many occasions. The singing and dancing were beautiful metaphors for the despair and the madness of Arthur Fleck, but there was probably too much of it, which dragged the film down and was a test of one's patience. I feel it received to much adverse publicity which in my opinion was unfair. Too many viewers clearly going with preconceived ideas and expectations rather than going along to enjoy the ride. Like the first one, it was about embracing Flecks past traumas and why he had become what he had. As for the twist at the end, initially I hated it, but the more I thought about it, I eventually got it, and loved it! A little less singing and dancing I'd have easily scored it an 8.
