In the tradition of epic romance/adventure novels, Australia is a beautiful picture that captures the attention from beginning to end, despite the fact that it runs almost three hours. Every aspect of this movie was well done. There was absolutely breathtaking cinematography, brilliant direction, and of course, amazing acting.
One of the things in the film that stood out the most was the young Brandon Walters who played the young Nallah. He was a scene-stealer, a talented actor with a presence way beyond his years. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman also played their characters perfectly. Kidman as the at first annoyingly prim and later charmingly stubborn Lady Ashley, and Jackman as the roguishly handsome and free-spirited Drover. The chemistry between Kidman and Jackman was believable as well.
The movie didn't follow the humdrum formula that most films exhibit now days, where there's one huge build up and one huge climax. This movie had several spots that could have been the ending, and some people might have cut it off there, but it was the brilliance of the director that he managed to capture us through at least three ending-like segments. He took us beyond the normal happily-ever-after to the what happened next. But don't worry, the ending is still perfect. Character development is well done, the writing was amazing, and the filming was breathtaking. All in all this three hour experience is a well-deserved 9 out of 10. Don't miss it!

While this series was not as visually pleasing as the miniseries, it created characters who were deeper, and a plot line that fully captures viewers attention for all 13 episodes. The darker side of Dinotopia comes out in a way that helps the viewer to connect even more to the story. All the actors and actresses were great, and while the dialogue lacked in some parts, the realism of the characters did not. By the end of the series you find that you have laughed and cried with the characters, and found the occasion to yell at them on various occasions. In all the series was great, both for a lover of the dinotopian story lines, and for the first time viewer. A diffenent 8 out of 10.
