An enjoyable film, I'd say this is definitely built for a family friendly Superman, and not a serious Superman. If you take take Reeves is 22' The Batman, think the exact opposite for Superman. Not a lot of depth to the story or characters, the acting was great though, and I like David Corenswet. I will say this is more of the Superman everyone grew up watching in the tv series in the 1950's-2006. Very different approach to Cavill's and Snyder's Superman, which if that's what you're looking for you'll be pleased. CGI was good. If you're hoping for a core Superman but also a good serious edge to living in the real world, you won't get that, it's a James Gunn film, so any time you get something serious or heartfelt you'll most likely have the moment followed up immediately by a joke.
A lot of the reviews seemed to act like this movie was terrible, when it was a pretty decent addition. Better than Thor: The Dark World, it honestly remind me of Captain America: The First Avenger.
The action scenes are fluid, and the cgi is also good. The plot wasn't super complex, and the villain wasn't very remarkable, but I didn't hate it. And will probably watch it in the future when I do a marvel rewatch.
It is definitely a filler movie, that just sets up towards the future films. I do wish the plot had been a little better, and the villain a little more terrifying, powerful, or scary. As you didn't feel as emotionally connected as you do with other films.
