Unattractive leads are not among them. The sheer number of reviewers upset by an unwise marketing gimmick and/or describing the actresses in at best uncomplimentary terms only doesn't surprise me because while it reflects on a certain kind of reviewer, I already knew that (qv similar reactions to comedy specials by a fine comedian, one whose cousin is a senator) and- no surprise.

The special effects- in the background perspective snowskiing, for example- and some of the plot and dialogue were not great, though some of the latter had their moments and the film was still fun, just not exceptional.

Many of the reviews here reflect the thoughts I still remember having as I wasted my time seeing this one: fine cinematography attached to empty, unrecommendable everything else. (If anything, the decision of some to still give this film a 5 or higher implicitly implies that at least half of films are -worse-. Which is probably true, I suppose, yet- _still_ not reason enough to give it a 5+ rating anyway. Non-masochists to whom dialogue, character, plot, at any basic level matter should probably avoid this if possible.

About the only really interesting thing about this movie was the idea that it was based on a true story. Which it is... only for the loosest, most useless values of "based". Individual things in this movie happened; the really intriguing things are all fiction.
