I usually enjoy movies like this, but this one didn't work for me. The idea is wild-metallic, magnetic walls trapping people inside an apartment building. At first, it felt like it could be aliens or some government experiment. But then they mention a factory fire... and I immediately thought, wait, is that really the reason?
From there, the movie just drags with emotional drama after emotional drama. I was hoping for something smart, tense, or thought-provoking. Instead, I got emotional conflicts I couldn't care less about, and a pretty weak ending.

Fantastic Four: First Steps might not be a perfect film, but it's easily the most enjoyable and confident adaptation of the Fantastic Four to date. For the first time, I felt like the characters were treated with care, energy, and a real understanding of what makes them special. The film blends heart, humor, and heroism in a way that feels faithful to the comics without trying to mimic the tone of other Marvel hits.
The story is straightforward but engaging, the pacing never drags, and the chemistry between the leads is genuinely strong. There's an optimism and warmth throughout the movie that's rare in modern superhero films. It doesn't try to be dark or overly serious-instead, it leans into what makes the Fantastic Four unique: a sense of family, wonder, and discovery.
The audience in my theater actually applauded at the end, which says a lot. It may not break new ground in terms of structure or spectacle, but it delivers where it counts-by being fun, sincere, and true to its source material. If this is the new direction for the franchise, I'm all in.

This film turned out to be more interesting than I initially expected. While it doesn't offer anything particularly groundbreaking or original, it does attempt an honest look into human relationships-why we make certain choices, how we hurt the people we care about, and how messy love and life can be. It asks some good questions, even if it doesn't always deliver strong answers.
That said, the story is fairly predictable, and at times it leans heavily into cheesy, sentimental territory. The dialogue can feel a bit forced or overly sweet, and you can see some plot turns coming from a mile away. I really wanted to like it more than I did.
Still, there are a few funny and genuinely cute moments scattered throughout, and the actors have decent chemistry. It's the kind of movie that's easy to watch, mildly thought-provoking in parts, but ultimately just kind of average. It had potential-it just didn't quite stick the landing.
