Twisters is a horrible movie. First, most of the actors were too old. I don't want to see an old 35-year-old man chasing tornadoes for his YouTube commercial. Next. He lead actress of 26 years, she must feel like facial expressions are not for actresses. Then, of course, instead of going after a tornado so we can get some action in the movie, we have to break to the obligatory scenes of the main characters helping out with the devastation of a town. I guess so we're not supposed to feel guilty for watching the movie? But that's what we're paying for right? Facepalm. For an action movie, there sure was a lot of down time. I would have rather watched a 20 minute movie with just the action sequences, and just cut out all the sad talking and Bs that most of the movie was about. Yes, characters are supposed to have a story but it must be in the context and interesting. In the end, we got to see the wall of a theater being knocked down by a tornado with a bunch of kids screaming. What a lost opportunity. A screenplay with no imagination. Bummer!
What a horrible movie, I was twirling my thumbs! Did the producers actually read this script? The direction and actors did a great job with a sorry plot! They should go back and look at Darth Vader in Star Wars, don't you want to be Darth vader? The villains in this script are supposed to be developed, yet they come across his human-less cardboard cutouts. You know even Darth Vader had a little bit of humanity. Something that drove the viewer to be intrigued by the villains plan. If you wanted to make a slapstick movie about two cops, you could have at least worked some good dialogue. I can't remember one quote from the movie. This is one of the most unrewatchable movies I have ever seen. But what do I know, everybody above the line got paid some big bucks. The purpose of this movie was to pay people, not entertain. I imagine it will lose money and show up on streaming video with viewers forgetting it very soon. Great camera work on the Florida city skyline, facepalm! Even the scene with the local white guys was just horrible. I was the only one in my theater for the 6:00 showing on thursday. And looks like the box office shows that no one trusts these guys to make a good movie. Jerry Bruckheimer approved the script? I simply don't believe it. It was rushed. I was bored.
Hi Folks! Wanted to review Dwellers today after I saw the negative reviews. Totally unfair!! And, NO!, Mr. Fortier is NOT my brother. HAHA.... Starts out like the film Creep, just a guy wanting to do a little filming and ends up...a dreadful way to go.
For someone interested in auteur and beginning filmmakers, Drew Fortier has put together a nice little horror picture...while the acting SEEMS a little campy sometimes, it pretty much is spot on. No overacting, and believable. Three guys go talking to some homeless (who relate their stories) about why some have disappeared, and the guys go down into an old water tunnel to get some interviews from the homeless. What could go wrong??
I liked the film My Dinner with Andre. Although Dwellers is a different genre, the simplicity and honesty of the acting is refreshing, just like Andre. From a production angle, Mr. Fortier got a lot of production value in his settings for no money at all, $0 spent. The actors were amateur, but that's good in a way. They wanted to be in the film and did well! I have seen much better financed films that left me with no feeling.
Dwellers is a cerebral film. It's about 3 guys lapsing into desperation and weariness...and about a problem in the towns' tunnels that seemingly everyone wants to ignore. Dwellers got under my skin; thank you Mr. Fortier.
Just a note, Mr. Fortier made a documentary called, Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie, about his band in 2016. Probably to his shock, the film was never able to get clearance release because the song catalog is tied up by some suits in Los Angeles. To his credit, Mr. Fortier has made the film free to all on Youtube. This is a director who WANTS others to enjoy his art. Dwellers is the next proof of that. See it, sip it, dread the dark.
