I have seen this film twice, and each time as this film draws to a close I cry. I try not to, but over the many decades in viewing films only a very few have move me to show that outward emotion. This film with such a good storyline, and the acting of Jason in this character has moved me twice to shed tears. This film was done in 2013 somewhat early in his career which demonstrated he had a long career ahead on the big screen. He has not disappointed his fans even in a dramatic role, in my opinion. I think that is shared by many. Coming in March this year a new film of his will be released, and as usual his fans will enjoy his character yet to be revealed.

There is really nothing new one can add about the extraordinary talent of John Garfield. Force of Evil, again displays on film, along with other talented performers, a story of corruption before the system went legal called the lottery. However, at the heart of the film is the complicated love between two brothers. Each demonstrating how they viewed the utility of money, and trying hard to convince they were honest. This is a love story as well as a film noir, and how the main characters use their love in the end to feel right with themselves. This film, and any film with John Garfield should not be missed.

I hesitated to view this film by the very low opinion other viewers had for this movie. But I decided to try it, and if I found the film offensive I can turn the film off. However, I finished the movie. Firstly, I found the script easy to follow. Secondly, the acting was equal to a B film. Thirdly, the violence was not over the top. Saving Private Ryan had much more intense violence than this film. Fourthly, the most talked about was the topic of incest. Really just one scene, and the lead actor's words to his sister were bearable, and his thoughts revealed toward the end were out of love for his sister not lust and guilt for his feelings toward his sister. In today's film making that taboo topic is minor, and how it is acted out as well. This film is not a masterpiece, but it is not as evil as many portray this film to be. The film had no subtitles. The frontal nudity is in the film as well. Watch the film if this type of action movie appeals to you. Remember one can always turn the film off.
