The film amkes its "bias" rather clear from the very beginning. Never in my life i have seen so many titles on the screen that included the word angel, but i gave it a chance nonetheless and i am glad that i did. I find it quite refreshing to see see a christian film that actually presents christian values.

The issue with ... basically all the rest is that they are not actually christian. If you take a look at series like gods not dead and similar, they go directly against scripture and are actualy deeply satantic in their messaging.

This film on the other hand is kept in the spirit of christ and his teachings of goodness, family and integrity.

If you go into supernatural shenanigans like this, you could either go the serious route if you have the budget for it, obviously some comic relief not entirely excluded or like in this case you try to make up for that budget by going into a ..let's put this politely .. "lighter route", BUT then you better have either some tight action or some hillarious comedic moments, preferably both.

For once it has too little of either and what we get is neither really tight nor hillarious. It has some moments, but those are rather rare.

And the script makes it quite clear early on, that for this to be enjoyed you can not possibly question any of the events in this films or its relations to each other.

Look, i absolutely looooooove Ma Dong-seok, the "south-korean bud spencer". In fact him being in it was sufficient for me to watch this film, but even him can not save everything.

Look, its not unusual that you read the plot description of a film and think to yourself "thats possibly the dumbest thing i have read in quite a while".

Now, USUALLY i would not hold that against the film. A true master of screen writing can make ALMOST everything compelling, BUT there is a limit and at tag lines like "the richer you are the faster you die" i have to draw the line. There is really not much coming back from that.

Well, i am all for a good trainwreck, so i gave it a go. As i said, you would expect a film with such an insane plot line, but then you would not expect friggin mary elizabeth winstead to star in it. I know it has become a trope to go "how did they get her for this", but seriously ... how????

But it gets weirder. Despite the ridiculous setting the film is actually made quite well. They tried their best with the scriopt. Acting of course is top notch, no real technical flaws, expect of course the basic plotline.

And then ... slowly but steady it turns into a completely different film .... and then does it again. At one point the "rich flu" is nothing more than an afterthought. Yes, the original events in a way lead to this, but the film completely switches its focus completely at least 2 times during its runtime.

Now in the end the film as an overall experience is somewhat satisfying, but utterly inconsistent, leaving you not disappointment but somewhat puzzled what you have just watched in the first place. This felt more like watching 3 short films in a row than anything else.
