This is just a desperate attempt to make a young adult version of stranger things and cash in on an established brand which makes this yet another failed attempt at revitalising / reimagining Clive Barkers 1987 masterpiece. The writing, cinematography and acting is so cringy at times that they could use this movie as an actual torture method in hell itself. As mentioned before this movie picked up all the bad writing of the sequels and none of the great fast paced, riveting storytelling of the original. It seems like to this day writers somehow fail to understand what made the Hellbound Heart so compelling and they just use it has a vehicle to churn out yet another soulless (scr) product in time for the Halloween season. The demon makeup looked way better and menacing in the 45 year older film. What gives? Also there was no need to change the outfits of the Coenobites. The black leather fetish look was perfect and was exactly as described in the book.

Possessor is a high concept body horror movie with philosophical undertones. There are scenes that show cinematic greatness and the grim payoff In the third act works extremely well.
