So the plot is about what you'd expect, some explorers go to an uncharted Island which amazingly has a vibrant enough biosphere to support dozens of large dinosaurs and an ape-like beast.

But where Kong had the joy of Willis O'Brien's animations, this has guys in really bad monster suits, filmed in a low-quality coloring process.

This movie compensates for the lack of creature effects by featuring more melodrama, including a native mutiny, a somewhat awkward love triangle, and a drunken Captain with lust on his mind.

The movie's strong point is Virgina Grey as the female lead.

This movie is kind of a hidden gem.

The movie opens on what seems to be the end of a horror movie, with the Final Girl surviving whatever they were up against. The action quickly switches to a British Police station, and involves two constables, a drunken bachelorette party, and other assorted characters dealing with Lovecraftian monsters running amok.

Then the movie pulls a major plot twist that frankly, I just didn't see coming.

It's a nice little mix of American-style horror and British style humor.

While the horror Genre is open to parody and mocking, you really have to know what you are doing to get it right.

This looked like a bunch of film students who wanted to make a funny film, sending up horror films, but the jokes all fell kind of flat. It looks like they had ten minutes of plot idea, and had to fill out an hour and a half running time.
