As a sincere M3GAN fan, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. It was ten million times better than the first. Visually, story-wise, acting wise. Everyone was more fleshed out. Every plot point had a reason. I want to see it three more times. Things just clicked and ofc Megan was not only hilarious and badass as usual but I love how the movie knew when to be serious and buckle down and when to be goofy. Great story telling all around. Not once was I bored. I'll be watching this movie again and again and again just like I did the first one. It actually overshadows the first one. You'll never look back. I genuinely connected with this one way more than the first. It wasn't trying to be anything. It just WAS. Shoutout to Megan's actress Aimee.
I officially tapped out at 8:16 into the movie. I'm a huge Devon bostick fan and am the type of fan to watch any and all movies starring my favorite actors. I saw the reviews on this movie, it gave "Disaster Movie" energy with adults in their thirties playing late teens in high school but knowingly hiring the older actors with the intent of placing the teens in sexual and dangerous situations. I made it less than ten full minutes into the film before realizing this "parody" I guess, "film" checked all of the cliche boxes this type of movie could have. Grown adults playing teens (technically they're in college but they all have Junior high school personalities and performances, amateur cinematography, cliche sound design, wonky script writing, and one-dimensional characters. The main character speaks out loud his inner thoughts and no one around him, his college-aged peers, never question this. Everyone gives complete silence for conversations that don't involve them as if life freezes for each sentence in their universe. The acting feels like a high school play and my middle school play of Alice and wonderland performed better. No one makes sense when they speak, no one makes sense with their actions. I mean a professor openly planning and initiating a date with a college student in front of her friends in the middle of the school yard and not being questioned, but listened to and technically ignored, was being questionable. And I can't say that it's a charming cliche that those era of movies have. It's a flaw. It's never been good. "Detention" starring Josh Hutcherson did the parody type thing and it was wonky at times but it worked sometimes as well. It was a balance of "hey that landed" to "eh, you tried. I saw where you were going but not really but good job for trying." This movie had "stop, no, stop. Don't do say that. Where would this happen? Why are you doing that? Nobody does that. Everyone can hear you and no one's reacting. He's in college and his mom packs his lunches in a brown bag and cuts off the crust still? He wears mouth guards while riding his bike on an empty street to school? Can we paint him as a wimp any other not so on the nose way? The damn alarm clock within 3 minutes of the movie starting said something along the lines of "todays a great day , nothing could go wrong today" so blatantly noticeable that you're average idiot would be able to pick up on the NOT SO SUBTLE FORESHADOWING. I'm angry because I was excited for a feature film with Devon Bostick as the lead and I wanted to support him. However, I can't support utter trash. No wonder this movie is free on freevee with ads. Look, I like trash movies, sometimes they're so bad It's good, but this wasn't that. This was so bad, it's terrible, and it only gets worse. Devon, I love you, but I gotta support you on some other project cause this wasn't it.
