I came across this show only because of my uncle who is a bit of a wingnut (though a lovable one) and who subscribes to Glenn Beck's Blaze TV... otherwise it would never have been on my radar because those aren't my politics. I don't know how to describe it. It's not a right-wing show. Libertarian-ish? Though they seem to have issues with politics in general. A lot of jokes at the expense of the NSA, drone strikes, partisan politics, Obama and Washington in general and they clearly have a problem with Lindsay Lohan (they have her OD in one episode).
I've seen most of season two (2013) at this point and there is some very smart and funny stuff to be found. It's a mix of sketch comedy and improv. They use actors from the Upright Citizen's Brigade (some of whom do really great impersonations in their panel segment). It's not on my cable network so I hope my uncle keeps his subscription.

This is one of the best television programs in the history of television. Not talking about the shoddy remakes - talking about the ORIGINAL Twilight Zone. Sure, as in any series that lasts as long as this one you're going to have some duds. But man, when they're good they are hauntingly, amazingly good. Brilliant writing. Amazing acting. Recently set the TiVo to start recording the show and I can tell you, there are few greater pleasures for me than sitting down with my kids and watching a show that's older than I am. They don't care about the black & white. They don't care about things like corded phones ("dad, what's that?"). They get mesmerized by the stories. They don't make TV like this anymore. Or, that's not fair to say: They don't make TV like this enough. At all.
What a joy it is to walk into the living room in the morning and see the kids watching something educational, ON THEIR OWN! Not only that, but I actually enjoy sitting with them and watching too because it's so interesting. We store multiple episodes on TiVo, read the descriptions, and decide which products we'd like to learn about. In this day and age we take everything for granted but How It's Made does a great job of taking everyday products and making the story of their creation interesting. I will never take cornflakes for granted now that I know what they go through. Ditto fire extinguishers and Wellingtons. But most important, I absolutely love the fact that my kids would rather watch this than cartoons.
