"Thaaram Theertha Koodaram" is an outstanding film that leaves a lasting impact with its delicate storytelling, powerful performances, and profound emotional depth. The movie tells the story of Sanjay, a food delivery boy suffering from bipolar disorder, who has been abandoned by his family. In a bid to prove his ability to socialize and connect with others, he takes on the responsibility of caring for two homeless girls. This simple yet poignant plot draws viewers into a world filled with empathy, struggle, and hope.
The strength of this film lies in its ability to draw viewers in with strong characters and an intriguing plot. The performances are exceptional, especially by Karthik Ramakrishnan, who portrays Sanjay with such authenticity that you truly believe he is grappling with his mental illness. His every gesture, from his walk to his speech, conveys a man struggling with his inner demons, yet yearning to make a difference. Nainita M brings a delicate balance of vulnerability and strength to her role, embodying a character driven by the determination to survive and find a better life.
The cinematography and direction are simple yet effective, focusing more on the raw emotions and the harsh realities faced by the characters rather than on extravagant visuals or flashy dialogues. The slow pacing of the film allows viewers to fully immerse themselves in the characters' lives, feeling every moment of their pain and every small victory. This deliberate pacing might feel slow to some, but it serves to highlight the film's humbling portrayal of life's struggles.
One of the film's standout elements is its ability to evoke deep emotions. The depiction of Sanjay's and Idhaya's relationship is beautifully symbolic, represented by two pigeons that symbolize peace, fidelity, and love. Their bond is a beacon of hope amidst their harsh circumstances, showcasing their desire to help others despite their own suffering.
The film also offers a critical look at society's indifference to the vulnerable. Through characters like Sanjay's brother and the apathetic police officer, the story exposes the nonchalant and selfish attitudes prevalent in our environment. Yet, it remains hopeful, highlighting the potential for compassion and change through the actions of Sanjay and Idhaya.
Despite its slow pace, which might be a minor downside for some, the film is a powerful narrative that resonates deeply, leaving viewers with a profound sense of empathy and reflection. This movie is a complete storytelling experience-raw, real, and remarkably human.
In an industry often dominated by big stars and high-budget spectacles, "Thaaram Theertha Koodaram" shines with its authentic portrayal of life's challenges and the strength of the human spirit. It's a film that deserves to be seen by many more people, not just for its compelling story but for its important message of compassion, humanity, and resilience.
A huge thank you to the entire team for crafting such a beautiful and unforgettable film. This is a cinematic experience you will not forget-an absolute must-watch.

This is the best movie by a long shot in all the recently made Hindi movie or any language movie for that matter. What a Marvellous performance by Vikrant Massey who protrays the poignant and inspiring true story with such conviction and simplicity. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's direction is a standout, capturing the essence of rural India and the stark realities of the education system with masterful precision. His ability to portray the contrast between the simplicity of village life and the overwhelming nature of city life adds a profound layer to Manoj's journey.
As the director says towards the end
"No time to mourn dreams that are slain.
Tears won't betray my heart's pain.
No use to woe on.
With a smile, I'll go on.
Tell fate I'll return. Tomorrow is my turn!
If I cannot be the sun that shines over the earth, I will be the lamp that lights the street.
Broken strings play a melodious sound.
A flower breaks through the stony ground.
Spring and birdsong replace winters gone wrong.
Morning rays bring a new song to sing."

Very Realistic script, screenplay and acting by Tovino and Keerthy. No exaggerated expressions or hammy acting or larger than life sets or mistimed funny sequences. Very relatable and gripping storyline supported by equally good acting by all. Will keep you on the edge of the seat, especially towards the second half of the movie.
