I never watched this show while it was new but recently started watching on Max streaming. I liked it right away as I found it to have the perfect blend of seriousness and comedy. The acting is wonderful and the characters are believable and real. Female and male characters are equally strong and vulnerable. Christine Ebersol is the perfect cranky matriarch with heart. The main leads have real jobs and real lives. African culture adds a nice touch. The editing and words between scenes is also creative. The child actor who plays the son is also extremely talented. It won't be long before we finish binging all seasons.
Two episodes in and I'm completely floored by the writing, the intelligence and suspense of this show. Ms Bates portrayal is a flawless balance between caring poor older woman and a brilliant mastermind. Have always loved Beau Bridges and Jason Ritter is wonderful and I see and hear his dad every time he is on the screen.
I hope this show lasts for many seasons.
Thank you CBS for putting out such a quality show. I also noticed that even though it was in the background there was a person in a wheelchair in the law office in episode two and I appreciate the representation. Love how it keeps you guessing until the last minute.
